In 2019, there was a lot of curiosity surrounding Respawn Entertainment’s game, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. Previously, the studio had primarily focused on first-person shooter games like Titanfall and Apex Legends. Therefore, an action-adventure game within the Star Wars universe seemed quite unexpected. However, once it was released, players found themselves immersed in one of the finest Star Wars experiences to date. And following the success of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, Respawn Entertainment raised the bar even higher with the 2023 release of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor.
Via these two games, players have embarked on a journey with Cal Kestis as he navigates his role as a Jedi and battles the malicious Galactic Empire. As of now, there’s no set release date for the third game, but it will certainly wrap up the story at some point in the future. The excitement for this concluding chapter is enormous, and even though Cal Kestis’ adventure may reach its end, the Star Wars Jedi series appears poised to continue thriving.
Star Wars Jedi Can Continue Without Cal Kestis
Nothing Says Star Wars Jedi Has to Follow Cal’s Journey
As a passionate Star Wars gamer, I’ve come to terms with the fact that my journey with Cal Kestis might continue in another project somewhere down the line, but for now, it seems like the third game from Respawn will mark the conclusion of the Star Wars Jedi series. The details about the story are scarce at the moment, but it appears that Respawn is firm on their decision not to change the ending. Yet, if this is indeed the end of the series, it would be a shame for the Star Wars brand to fade away.
To date, the Star Wars Jedi saga doesn’t necessitate Cal Kestis being its focal point as he journeys through the galaxy. Although he has been established as the main character and the story centers around him, the franchise title itself could potentially encompass any Jedi character. The universe is teeming with unexplored Jedi, and Respawn’s Star Wars Jedi series could offer a fantastic opportunity to delve into their stories. As long as it preserves the essence and appeal of its predecessors, it has the potential to spawn a remarkable collection of adventures that Star Wars enthusiasts can immerse themselves in for years to come.
There Are So Many Unique Characters Star Wars Jedi Could Explore Further
Following Cal Kestis’ journey, the next Star Wars Jedi game might delve into an entirely fresh, original Jedi character. This new Jedi could find themselves battling against the Empire, aiding planets during the Clone Wars, or encountering the First Order. If the studio desired to venture further, they could narrate a tale set in the High Republic, Old Republic, or even a previously uncharted era. Should these periods not appeal, the studio could instead pioneer a new, unexplored timeline within the Star Wars universe. Regardless of where in this galaxy the narrative unfolds, there are undoubtedly many Jedi ripe for discovery.
In future “Star Wars Jedi” games, there is a potential for character development that fans are familiar with from across the franchise. Characters like those introduced in “Star Wars: The Clone Wars,” some of whom had limited screen time, could become engaging protagonists. Additionally, characters from Luke’s defunct Jedi Order could provide the foundation for compelling stories, enriching and expanding the narrative of the sequel trilogy.
It’s not necessary for Cal Kestis’ storyline to be over because there are numerous Jedi characters in the Star Wars universe who could star in their own games. Respawn has paved the way for this by creating an ideal platform, and it would seem a tremendous missed chance if we let this idea sit idle when we have the potential to create something extraordinary instead.
