So, apparently, Destiny 2 almost became something way bigger – like, a Destiny Infinity! It’s kinda sad, honestly. Bungie’s been having a tough time with the game for a while now. The Final Shape expansion was supposed to wrap up the whole Light and Darkness story, and even the entire Destiny universe. But things didn’t really click after that, and the game just wasn’t keeping players interested. With the way they pushed seasons with all the FOMO, then started a new story with The Edge of Fate, and all the stuff going on inside Bungie, it feels like Destiny 2 is heading towards its end on June 9th. It’s a bummer, but it looks like that’s where we’re at.
Forbes journalist Paul Tassi, who also plays Destiny 2, recently reported on internal discussions at Bungie. Following the announcement of Destiny 2‘s last update, many fans expressed disappointment and started a petition for a Destiny 3. Tassi’s sources say Bungie explored options like returning to a single yearly expansion and rebranding the game as Destiny Infinity, aiming for a fresh start with a revised live-service model. While Destiny 3 was also a possibility, neither of these plans moved forward.
