The HUAWEI Watch Fit 5 Pro is a new smartwatch recently released by the company. Priced at just R4,999 for the Pro version and R3,499 for the standard model, HUAWEI is making a strong impact in the market, and it’s proving to be successful.
Watch this review below:
The HUAWEI Watch Fit 5 Pro has a redesigned look with three stylish color options: a bold orange for the copper version, a crisp white for the silver, and a classic, understated black.
HUAWEI sent me the orange version to check out, and honestly, the strap is fantastic. It’s made of this really comfortable, breathable nylon – I wish I could swap it onto my GT 6! I’d use it with all my HUAWEI watches if I could. It’s got a sleek metal clasp with the HUAWEI logo, and it attaches to the watch just like other Watch Fit straps – with a simple push-button lock.

The watch has been updated with a new design. It now features a durable Sapphire Glass screen protecting a vibrant 1.92-inch AMOLED display. The screen is incredibly sharp and clear thanks to its high resolution and pixel density. With a brightness of 3000 nits, the watch is easily readable even in bright sunlight.
The HUAWEI Watch Fit 5 Pro has a larger screen because the display extends closer to the edges, and it looks fantastic. Everything on the watch is easier to see thanks to the bigger size, and the screen quality is excellent. My only minor issue is that the curved glass makes applying screen protectors a bit tricky – I personally prefer a flat screen for that reason.
A bright orange stripe across the top panel adds a distinctive touch to the Watch Fit 5 Pro. Its slightly uneven edges give the impression of a racetrack circling the display, and the effect is really appealing.

On the left side, you’ll find the speakers and a microphone. Another microphone extends slightly from the right side. Next to that are the ECG sensor and an action button, with the rotating crown button positioned above them. The crown has a sleek HUAWEI Watch Fit design that adds a premium feel.
That concludes our look at the HUAWEI Watch Fit 5 Pro. It functions well and offers enough new features to differentiate it from the Watch Fit 4 series. Plus, the color choices are appealing, especially for anyone interested in the current orange fitness aesthetic.
The combination of aluminum and titanium creates a shell that’s both incredibly light and strong, able to hold up well in everyday conditions.
Okay, so I just got the HUAWEI Watch Fit 5 Pro, and honestly, it feels pretty similar to the Watch Fit 4 Pro spec-wise. Huawei really pushes the running features on their watches, which is cool, but I’m a boxer, so that’s not my main focus! For me, it’s been more about using it during my boxing workouts – tracking my heart rate, monitoring sleep, and those little everyday things like standing reminders and quick exercise bursts. It does those things well, but I haven’t really tested out all the running features.

The HUAWEI Watch Fit 5 Pro is incredibly simple to set up. If you already use a HUAWEI watch or fitness tracker, just open the HUAWEI Health app, ensure everything is up-to-date, and then add the new watch. It will automatically transfer your daily activity data, like steps, so you won’t lose any progress. The whole process is really smooth and easy.
The experience is generally consistent across Android, iOS, and HUAWEI’s EMUI. While each platform has a slightly different look and feel for the app, they all work in the same way.
The HUAWEI Watch Fit 5 Pro includes some fun new watch face options. You’ll find 3D faces powered by the GPU that show adorable, animated creatures that move when you tap them. Plus, there’s a brand-new Mini-Workouts face, a feature you won’t find on any other Watch Fit model.

The HUAWEI Watch Fit 5 Pro now includes ‘mini-workouts’ – quick exercises you can do anywhere. As you complete these workouts, you unlock new backgrounds for a fun panda face on your watch. These mini-workouts cover a variety of movements, like facial exercises, twists, and rotations for your arms and shoulders.
This program encourages you to take a quick, one-minute break to move around every hour, all without leaving your space. The exercises are fun, and the panda character makes it more engaging by demonstrating what to do.
I also liked how the panda’s appearance changed to show fatigue – it would gradually slump over the longer it stayed still, subtly reminding you when it was time to move again.

HUAWEI is adding several new workout apps – KeepStrong, SpaceY Moonshot, Goodshot, and Padel Point – that you can download for your watch. These apps weren’t available when I first tested the watch, but HUAWEI says they’ll soon be accessible through the app gallery in the HUAWEI Health app.
The Watch Fit 5 Pro, and now also the GT 6 series, includes a Diabetes Risk Study. This is a voluntary research program where the watch uses its sensors to estimate your risk of developing diabetes. It takes around 5-7 days to get your results, and all you need to do is wear the watch consistently.
The HUAWEI Watch Fit 5 Pro is pretty similar to previous models. While it has some better features for running and cycling, I personally don’t use them. As someone who boxes, I don’t see much support for that type of workout on this watch. It’s going to take a long time for smartwatches to accurately track things like punching power and other boxing-specific movements.

I tested the watch for a week while maintaining my regular boxing routine. It performed exactly as I hoped, accurately tracking my workouts, providing a helpful history of my sessions, and consistently monitoring my heart rate, oxygen levels, and breathing throughout the day.
Okay, so the HUAWEI Watch Fit 5 Pro isn’t exactly a huge leap forward from their previous watches, but honestly, that’s not a dealbreaker. It just means it’s a solid, reliable wearable that does everything you’d want it to – it delivers on its promises, you know?
I liked that this model is noticeably lighter than the GT 6 Pro, but the smaller size means the battery doesn’t last as long. With the always-on display turned on, you can expect about 4 days of battery life, and around 7 days with it off. If you don’t use it heavily – like if you don’t exercise daily – you might even get up to 10 days on a single charge.

The HUAWEI Watch Fit 5 Pro is a really impressive smartwatch. It has a high-quality look and feel, and it’s packed with HUAWEI’s excellent health tracking features. Even without the new additions, it’s already a very capable device – the new Mini-Workouts are just a nice bonus.
Compared to its competitors, this wearable is a standout choice and could very well be the top device of 2026.
