Eiichiro Oda’s One Piece features a vast world of pirates, and fans have seen many powerful and infamous characters appear over the years. The strongest pirates naturally rule the seas, but there are also those with incredible, yet untapped, potential. These rising stars represent the new generation, and they’re expected to grow into formidable forces capable of dominating the seas in the future.

8. Edward Weevil

Edward Weevil quickly became a fascinating character after the timeskip in One Piece. Admiral Kizaru noted his power is comparable to a young Edward Newgate (Whitebeard). He received a substantial bounty of 480 million berries, but it was put on hold when he joined the Seven Warlords of the Sea.

Following the end of the Shichibukai, Aramaki managed to capture him, though it’s probable he didn’t play fair. Regardless, with the lineage of Edward Newgate in his blood, he possesses incredible power and a devastating capacity for destruction – a fact clearly demonstrated by everything he’s done.

7. Eustass Kid

Eustass Kid is a powerful pirate from the Worst Generation, and his mastery of all three types of Haki proves it. He also has the Jiki Jiki no Mi, a Devil Fruit that gives him magnetic abilities, which he’s used to become a major force. Currently, his bounty is 3 billion berries. However, during the Egghead arc, he suffered a crushing defeat against Shanks, and his entire crew was sunk.

He’s still capable of great things, and if he comes back later in the series, he’ll likely achieve even more success.

6. Trafalgar Law

Trafalgar Law is an incredibly strong character with a lot of untapped potential. He recently received a bounty of 3 billion berries, even before reaching his full power as a pirate. While he’s awakened the abilities of his Devil Fruit, the Ope Ope no Mi, he’s still developing his Haki. Despite already being a formidable opponent, Law has the capacity to become one of the very strongest characters in the series.

Honestly, it’s going to be a while before we see him again. Poor Law and his Heart Pirates just took a brutal beating from Blackbeard! It sounds like Law and Bepo were the only ones who got out, and nobody knows what happened to the rest of the crew – it’s really worrying. I’m hoping they’re okay and can regroup eventually!

5. Boa Hancock

Okay, let me tell you about Boa Hancock – she’s amazing! As the ruler of Amazon Lily, she’s known as the Snake Princess, and she’s seriously powerful. She’s one of the few pirates who can use all three types of Haki! It’s incredible to think she got an 80 million berry bounty just from one trip out, and now it’s skyrocketed to 1.659 billion! That’s a huge deal. Plus, she ate the Mero Mero no Mi, which lets her turn people to stone – super dangerous! We haven’t seen everything she’s capable of yet, but I honestly believe she has the potential to become as strong as one of the Emperors of the Sea. I’m really excited to see how much more powerful she gets!

After the Shichibukai system was abolished, Blackbeard admitted to Hancock that a direct attack would likely result in his defeat and instant petrification.

But what’s really interesting is that the author, Oda, has hinted Sanji still has a lot more strength he can unlock, meaning he could become even more powerful in the future.

During the Elbaf arc, the author Eiichiro Oda revealed that Sanji is destined to take over the role previously held by Scopper Gaban – the Pirate King’s powerful right-hand man. To live up to this legacy, Sanji needs to develop Conqueror’s Haki and significantly increase his strength.

2. Roronoa Zoro

Roronoa Zoro is a prominent character in One Piece. He’s the swordsman of the Straw Hat Pirates and a powerful warrior destined to become one of the Pirate King’s top fighters, making him one of the strongest characters in the series.

Zoro is currently powerful enough to defeat any of the Yonko’s top commanders, but he has the potential to become much stronger. It’s likely he’ll continue to grow and surpass even Dracule Mihawk, his current goal. He already possesses mastery of all three types of Haki, and the events of the Elbaph arc strongly suggest he’s on the path to fully controlling them.

1. Monkey D. Luffy

Luffy, the main character of One Piece, has the greatest potential of anyone in the series. It’s been confirmed he’s the reincarnation of Joy Boy, and he’s already incredibly powerful with the powers of the Nika fruit and highly advanced Haki. Even though he’s reached the level of a Yonko after the Wano War, Luffy still has room to become even stronger – he can significantly improve his Haki and potentially unlock even more abilities from his Devil Fruit. Considering where he began his journey, it’s clear Luffy’s potential is immense.
