Summary
- Miis have been iconic across multiple Nintendo games, providing players with immersive experiences.
- Games like Mario Kart 8, Mario Golf, and Super Smash Bros Ultimate offer Mii customization and gameplay.
- Titles such as New Super Mario Bros U Deluxe and Go Vacation incorporate Miis for varied gameplay experiences.
Among the standout aspects of video games, customizing characters is one such feature that truly immerses players. This functionality isn’t limited to gaming; consoles also offer features enabling users to create their preferred console personas. Across multiple console generations, the most indelible avatar has been Mii.
Miis have been a significant part of Nintendo’s appeal, helping players connect deeply with their products, such as the Nintendo Switch. One appealing aspect is how video games incorporate these personalized characters. It’s enjoyable for players to choose and customize their own avatars, more so when the games offer various fashion options. Even better games center around Miis for an even more immersive experience.
7. New Super Mario Bros U Deluxe
Mii Plumber
The collection, known as “New Super Mario Bros U Deluxe“, combines both “New Super Mario Bros U” and “New Luigi Bros U“. This package also includes their additional game modes. One of the appealing aspects of “New Super Mario Bros U” is that it allows Mii characters to join in on the action. Although they share similarities with other characters, players can still experience the enchanting world of the Mushroom Kingdom by using them.
In these games, Mii characters aren’t able to progress through the main narrative, but they can join in on other more relaxed gameplay options such as Coin Battle, Boost Rush, or Challenges. In Coin Battle, multiple courses are navigated by players to collect the most coins, including stages unique to this mode. Boost Rush resembles a speedrun for teams, where everyone competes to complete several courses with the quickest time, maximum coins gathered, and least lost lives. The Challenge mode presents five sub-missions, grading players based on their achieved objectives using medals.
6. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
Mii Racetracks
In the spirit of maintaining its long-standing tradition, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe introduces Mii characters as racers, a role they’ve played since Mario Kart Wii. Each Mii dons a racing jumpsuit in their preferred color, with the option to wear costumes based on Mario’s adversaries such as Bowser’s clown car. An added bonus is that players can unlock more distinctive outfits by using specific amiibos.
Just as every team member can join various games, Miis are capable of participating in a wide range of modes, including Grand Prix and unique battles like Renegade Roundup and Shine Thief. They serve as a player’s representative when engaging in online play. After competing in numerous races online, the victorious racer is easily identified by a golden crown, signaling other players to join forces against the dominant competitor.
5. Go Vacation
Mii Time Off
In a simpler and more conversational style, Go Vacation is a fantastic game for families and friends to unwind and strengthen their bonds in the picturesque setting of Kawawii Island, a unique resort. The game allows players to assume various characters, including Miis. At this idyllic location, there’s an array of rewards and customization options available, ranging from fashion choices, luxurious villas, and even adorable dogs.
This vast off-the-beaten-path destination offers a variety of exciting recreational options such as surfing, parachuting, beach volleyball, ice fishing, and many more. The activities available here are influenced by the surrounding terrain, with different environments offering unique experiences. It’s all about discovering how you can traverse this island; whether it’s by driving, skateboarding, or any other means that suits your adventurous spirit!
4. Mario Golf: Super Rush
In the game Mario Golf: Super Rush, it’s the Miis who take center stage, particularly in the Golf Adventure mode. This narrative-driven experience allows your Mii character to embark on a role-playing game (RPG) adventure, challenging well-known opponents to enhance their abilities. Additionally, they can unlock fresh outfits, adding a touch of style during the most high-stakes competitions such as battles against bosses.
Miis have the option to engage in various modes beyond just casual play, offering more competitive experiences. In Speed Golf, participants aim to complete the maximum number of holes using the least amount of strokes, creating a fast-paced race environment. For those seeking a bit of mayhem, Battle Golf presents an arena where players can clash with numerous obstacles as they strive to reach the designated holes. Lastly, Target Golf is perfect for refining accuracy skills, as players earn points by hitting bullseyes on specific targets.
3. Super Smash Bros Ultimate
Mii Battle Style
In the lineup of Super Smash Bros Ultimate, you’ll find Mii fighters who joined the series with the release of Super Smash Bros for Wii U. These Mii characters can engage in battles using three distinct fighting styles: Brawler for close-quarter fights, Gunner for long-range attacks and trap strategies, and Swordfighter for mid-range combat.
In the latest version of this game I’m playing, they streamlined the customization options compared to earlier versions, taking out additional moves and adjusting size. Despite this simplification, there are still plenty of ways to create unique characters, thanks to a wide range of costumes from other popular series such as Dragon Quest and Doom. What truly sets Mii fighters apart is how their custom sets can influence their performance in matches, making them more effective against certain opponents.
2. Nintendo Switch Sports
Sports Revival
As a devoted gamer, I’m thrilled to introduce you to the fresh new digital character gracing the screens of Nintendo Switch Sports – the Sportsmate! These characters bear a resemblance to Xbox avatars, but they’ve got an added touch of playful cartooniness to them. They are adaptable, yet their customization options don’t quite match up to the extensive possibilities offered by Mii characters.
In this game, Miis are included instead of being left out. Players have the option to select either the latest characters or their cherished ones they’ve created before. They can engage in a variety of sports, ranging from traditional games such as bowling and golf, to newer introductions like Chambara and Volleyball. Playing various games daily increases the chances of earning rewards that can be used to customize your favorite avatars.
1. Miitopia
Mii D&D Campaign
In the game ‘Miitopia,’ players embark on an immersive adventure, assuming roles similar to a Dungeon Master. They can tailor their main character, companions, and even antagonist to their liking, making it a highly personalized experience. The game’s most appealing feature lies in its humorous dialogues and interactions.
In this game, players have the ability to assign roles to secondary characters, but they do not directly control them. Instead, it’s the main character who interacts with these characters by shaping their relationships through various events. The goal is to identify the right event for each customized Mii character so they can work together effectively, leading fulfilling lives while also confronting the evil Dark Lord who steals faces.
