Xbox Games Showcase Game for June 7 Announced Ahead of Time

Summer gaming season is just around the corner! The Xbox Games Showcase 2026 is scheduled for Sunday, June 7th at 10 am Pacific Time / 1 pm Eastern Time, and we now know one game that will be featured. Other confirmed events include PlayStation State of Play on June 2nd and Summer Game Fest on June 5th. Nintendo hasn’t announced any plans yet, but a Nintendo Direct is anticipated sometime in June.

So far, only one game has been officially announced for the Xbox Games Showcase 2026. However, some fans believe a recent change to the Xbox Game Pass catalog might have revealed a few more. Several games were recently moved to a ‘coming soon’ status, leading people to speculate they’ll be shown at the Showcase. The games rumored to appear are Clockwork Revolution, Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy, Tropico 7, Armatus, Witchbrook, Fable, and There Are No Ghosts at the Grand Hotel. It’s worth noting that none of these are the game that’s already been confirmed.

June 7 is a Double Dip in Gears of War: E-Day

Following the Xbox Games Showcase, there will be a dedicated presentation for Gears of War: E-Day. However, Gears of War: E-Day will also be featured during the main Showcase itself. This approach is similar to past events – both Black Ops 6 in 2024 and The Outer Worlds 2 in 2025 received coverage in both the Showcase and a separate Direct, and were both released the same year. This suggests fans can expect Gears of War: E-Day to launch this year, even though it wasn’t initially listed among the featured games. The Direct will offer a deeper look at the game, including new gameplay footage and details, according to Xbox.

For those familiar with the series, Gears of War: E-Day is a prequel that takes place before the first Gears of War game. Developed by The Coalition and People Can Fly (who previously worked on Gears of War: Judgment), the game lets players experience the events of Emergence Day as Marcus Fenix and Dom Santiago. It depicts the initial attack by the Locust Horde on the surface world and the resulting conflict with the Coalition of Ordered Governments (COG) in the city of Kalona. As the first installment in a new series, Gears of War: E-Day aims to recapture the original sense of horror surrounding the Locust Horde.

The game seems promising and has been scheduled for a 2026 release for a while, explaining why it wasn’t listed in the Xbox Game Pass ‘coming soon’ section. Xbox might be planning a surprise release of Gears of War: E-Day, which would generate a lot of excitement, but that’s just a guess. Overall, the recent Game Pass leak probably doesn’t reveal as much as fans are hoping for.

Xbox has a promising lineup of games planned for 2026, developed by Xbox Game Studios. So far this year, Forza Horizon 6 has received excellent reviews, and highly anticipated titles like Gears of War: E-Day and Fable are on the way. When you add in other games from Xbox Game Studios, titles hinted at in recent leaks, and potential unannounced projects, it looks like Xbox is finally gaining momentum. However, the upcoming Xbox Games Showcase will be the real test to see how everything comes together.
