Mega Mewtwo Raids in Pokémon GO will introduce a unique feature: players need to lift their devices together to power up a special “Unity Attack.” Mega Evolutions have been gradually added to Pokémon GO since their introduction years ago, and Niantic is now including all the Mega Evolutions from the core Pokémon games. Mewtwo has been a fan-favorite Pokémon for thirty years, and players are excited to finally battle its Mega Evolved forms in Pokémon GO.
Pokémon GO Fest 2026 is underway in Tokyo, and players can now battle in special Super Mega Raids for a chance to catch Mega Mewtwo X and Y. Before the event, Niantic announced updates to Mega Evolution in Pokémon GO, but a new feature called Unity Attacks is just being discovered. Unity Attacks let players work together to unleash a powerful attack when a Pokémon’s health is low. To power up the attack, everyone has to raise their phones or devices into the air – which some players are finding a bit awkward!
