The latest chapters demonstrate this, as the Risu Risu no Mi, Model: Ratatoskr has been confirmed to possess greater elemental control abilities than the Hie Hie no Mi.
One Piece Chapter 1183 Shows Risu Risu no Mi, Model: Ratatoskr Is Superior To Kuzan’s Hie Hie no Mi Logia
Chapter 1183 of One Piece heavily featured Gunko, also known as Princess Shuri, and revealed details about her past in the Esperia Kingdom. The chapter confirmed that Gunko remains frozen, a result of Ragnir’s powers. Ragnir possesses the Risu Risu no Mi, Model: Ratatoskr, a powerful Devil Fruit from the Void Century that allows the user to transform into an Ice Squirrel and control ice.

In the One Piece universe, the Hie Hie no Mi is a powerful ice-based Devil Fruit that lets its user transform into ice and control it freely. Kuzan, who ate this fruit, can instantly freeze opponents solid and even parts of the ocean. While incredibly strong, the Hie Hie no Mi is outmatched by the Risu Risu no Mi, Model: Ratatoskr, when it comes to ice manipulation. Recent developments in Chapter 1183 of One Piece confirm that even Nerona Imu’s devastating power couldn’t melt the ice protecting Ragnir.
Ragnir’s Ice Attacks Far Surpass Kuzan In Potency
In One Piece chapter 1179, Loki stated that the ice created by Ragnir could only be melted by Ragnir himself. Soon after, Imu tried to break Gunko free from the ice using a powerful attack fueled by Conqueror’s Haki, as seen in chapter 1183. However, it was confirmed that even Imu, currently the strongest character in the series, couldn’t melt the ice.

Aokiji’s ice, while powerful, isn’t very durable. We saw this in Long Ring Long Land where Luffy and Nico Robin were quickly freed from his ice with just warm water. Even fire, like that from the Mera Mera no Mi, and magma can easily melt it. However, Ragnir’s ice is different – it’s impossible to melt and can only be undone by Ragnir himself, proving his freezing abilities are much stronger.

One Piece Chapter 1176 Shows Loki’s Ryu Ryu no Mi, Model: Nidhoggr Is Superior To Goro Goro no Mi
The idea that Mythical Zoan Devil Fruits can grant elemental control surpassing even Logia types isn’t limited to characters like Kuzan and Ragnir. Loki and Enel demonstrate a similar pattern: Enel’s Goro Goro no Mi allows him to become and control lightning, while Loki can transform into Nidhoggr, the Mythical Dragon, which also possesses lightning manipulation abilities.
When it comes to destructive power, Loki’s Nidhogg Devil Fruit is far stronger than Enel’s Goro Goro no Mi. Loki can casually destroy entire islands with attacks like Thorheim (first seen in chapter 1175), and that’s just a small part of his full capability. Even at his strongest, Enel’s 200 Million Volt Amaru wasn’t enough to seriously injure the Straw Hat crew before they gained their time-skip abilities. Loki, however, can completely obliterate islands – his world-destroying potential has been consistently highlighted throughout the story, including in chapter 1130. This demonstrates that Mythical Zoan fruits generally have more raw power than Logia fruits, especially when comparing lightning-based abilities.

Kaido’s Drum Dragon Surpasses The Potency Of The Magu Magu no Mi
Kaido’s most powerful form, the Flaming Drum Dragon, demonstrates how Mythical Zoan abilities can exceed those of Logia types. This transformation is achieved through his Devil Fruit, the Uo Uo no Mi, Model: Seiryu, which lets him become an Eastern Dragon. At its peak, this fruit allows Kaido to turn into a massive dragon of flame and magma, capable of completely destroying an island just by flying over it.
Kaido threatened Luffy, saying he would destroy Luffy’s fist before it could even land a blow.
I’ve noticed this Devil Fruit power is a lot like Akainu’s, letting the user become, create, and control magma. However, there’s a key difference in heat. Akainu’s magma, while incredibly hot, could be stopped – I remember seeing Jinbe hold his fist for a while during the Marineford battle, and Marco even blocked an attack completely back in chapter 575. This new magma, though? It’s on another level. It melted parts of Onigashima just by flying over them, and even Luffy’s powerful Gear 5 form started to burn up the instant it touched it. It’s significantly hotter and more destructive.
Kaido is far more powerful than Akainu, capable of destroying entire islands. He’s also incredibly durable and can control wind, lightning, and fire. Generally, Mythical Zoan Devil Fruits that grant elemental powers seem to be stronger than traditional Logia types, and this trend will likely continue as the story progresses in the Final Saga.
