I’m a huge fan of Hunter x Hunter, and one of the coolest things about it is how many characters can use Nen – it’s this amazing power system! But let’s be real, some characters are just on another level. A handful are seriously overpowered, and even within that group, there’s a pretty clear ranking of who’s the strongest. It’s fascinating to see how they stack up against each other!

The most powerful characters in Hunter x Hunter are incredibly strong due to their skillful use of Nen and the effectiveness of their abilities. These characters are far beyond the capabilities of ordinary humans, possessing immense strength, speed, and resilience. Interestingly, some are actually insect-based beings. Many can defeat other Nen users with just one hit, and a select few are capable of completely obliterating their opponents.

10. Biscuit Krueger

Biscuit is a skilled Nen teacher who helped Gon and Killua learn to control their powers. Despite appearing as a small, adorable girl, this is actually a disguise created by her Nen ability. In reality, she’s a tall, powerfully built woman. This transformation is a major advantage in battle, as enemies often underestimate her. Plus, she becomes even stronger when she reverts to her true form.

Yoshihiro Togashi, the creator of Hunter x Hunter, has established Biscuit as a truly powerful Nen master – someone with an exceptional skill level. She’s so skilled that she can effortlessly avoid attacks from a talented assassin like Killua, and even hit him when he’s completely focused on dodging. Biscuit is a highly proficient hand-to-hand combatant, capable of defeating most Nen users by precisely striking their weak spots.

9. Uvogin

Uvogin was one of the original members of the Phantom Troupe and considered its strongest physically. As an Enhancer, he used his aura to push his strength, speed, and other physical abilities far beyond normal human limits – some even consider him the strongest Enhancer in Hunter x Hunter. He was powerful enough to defeat most people, even skilled Nen users, with a single blow. His incredible speed was demonstrated when he caught bullets with his teeth, allowing him to quickly defeat dozens of Mafia members.

Within the Mafia, the Shadow Beats were known as the most skilled Nen users, and Uvogin managed to defeat all four of them on his own. Remarkably, he killed three of them while severely limited in movement – he could only move his head and neck. Uvogin channeled his aura into his fists, giving him incredibly powerful punches that could instantly destroy anything nearby.

8. Zeno Zoldyck

In the world of Hunter x Hunter, the Zoldyck Family is notorious as the most dangerous group of assassins, and Zeno was their former head. He’s a highly skilled Nen user and has perfected every advanced assassination method. This allows him to create illusions of himself and dramatically change his body – even turning his hands into deadly claws. Like all Zoldycks, Zeno possesses incredible physical resilience, making him extremely resistant to both pain and poisons.

Zeno is a remarkably skilled Emission Nen user, considered one of the best in the series. He attacks by firing powerful blasts of aura from his hands – strong enough to even wound someone like Chrollo. He can also mold his aura into the shape of a dragon, which he uses as the basis for most of his abilities. Zeno can precisely target enemies with rapid, spear-like attacks called Dragon Lance, but he’s also capable of unleashing a massive barrage of aura dragons to devastate entire fortresses. This allows him to quickly defeat large groups of weaker opponents with a single attack.

7. Nanika

Nanika is a mysterious being originating from the Dark Continent. It currently inhabits the body of Alluka Zoldyck, the second youngest member of the infamous Zoldyck family. Though Alluka wasn’t trained as an assassin and therefore doesn’t know any combat techniques, Nanika is exceptionally powerful. Many characters in Hunter x Hunter possess great energy, but Alluka’s energy reserves seem limitless and its true power is impossible to measure.

I’m absolutely fascinated by Nanika! It’s incredible – this being can literally rewrite reality by granting wishes! Imagine, instant teleportation anywhere in the world, or becoming unbelievably wealthy – Nanika can do it all, even bring someone back from the brink of death. But here’s the catch: Nanika doesn’t just hand out favors. You have to fulfill three requests first. And if you don’t meet those conditions? Well, it’s terrifying – Nanika will instantly kill someone, and potentially a lot of people – upwards of 60, depending on how big the wish was! It’s a seriously powerful, and dangerous, ability.

6. Chrollo Lucifer

Chrollo created and leads the Phantom Troupe, and despite being only the seventh strongest member physically, he’s considered their most powerful overall. He’s a highly skilled Nen user specializing in unique abilities, and a brilliant strategist with exceptional fighting skills, speed, and reflexes. Though Hisoka is also a formidable Nen user, Chrollo easily defeated him in battle.

Chrollo has a unique ability called Skill Hunter that allows him to steal the powers of others and use them for himself. While it’s a complex process, when successful, it makes him incredibly powerful, capable of defeating almost anyone. He proved this by fighting Zeno and Silva Zoldyck – two of the strongest assassins in the series – simultaneously and walking away without major injuries. Even Zeno acknowledged that Chrollo would have won the fight if he’d been fully committed to killing him.

5. Menthuthuyoupi

Though Youpi was the youngest member of Meruem’s Royal Guards, he was incredibly strong. He wasn’t particularly intelligent, but he had amazing physical abilities – immense strength, stamina, and toughness – and was exceptionally fast. He could withstand attacks from Killua and even survive being in a highly radioactive area without getting hurt.

I’ve seen some incredible abilities, but Youpi was truly something else. He was a Transmuter, meaning he could change any part of his body at will. It was wild – he could sprout eyes anywhere to get a full view of his surroundings, or even grow wings and just take off. And in a fight, he wasn’t messing around. He could create all sorts of spikes to attack multiple enemies at once. What was really interesting was that he had a really quick temper, but it actually helped him. He could focus that rage into a huge energy blast, or even transform his lower body into that of a horse, becoming incredibly strong and fast – almost like a centaur.

4. Neferpitou

Neferpitou, a cat-like Chimera Ant, was the first member of Meruem’s Royal Guard to hatch. Pitou demonstrated incredible durability, surviving a potentially fatal blow from Meruem and even withstanding a direct hit from Netero’s powerful 100-Type Guanyin Bodhisattva attack without injury. Because of these amazing feats, many fans of Hunter x Hunter believe Pitou was the second strongest Chimera Ant, after Meruem.

Pitou proved incredibly strong, easily defeating a skilled Hunter like Kite. Even Netero, considered the world’s best Hunter at the time, believed Pitou could have defeated him. As a Specialist, Pitou excelled at controlling and creating things. They could manipulate others as if they were puppets, and their Nen ability, Terpsichora, took over their body with a powerful, monstrous ballerina, granting them the strength and speed to severely injure Adult Gon.

3. Isaac Netero

Despite being over a century old, Isaac Netero was widely considered the world’s strongest Hunter. While he was once the most powerful Nen user, his age had diminished his strength. Even so, Netero remained within the top five Hunters at the time of his death. Another powerful Hunter, Morel, stated that if Netero couldn’t win against an opponent, no one within the Hunter Association stood a chance.

Netero dedicated years to training, achieving remarkable physical prowess. He could follow the movements of highly skilled assassins and withstand powerful attacks. As an Enhancer, he also demonstrated mastery over Manipulation and either Emission or Conjuration Nen abilities. His signature technique, the 100-Type Guanyin Bodhisattva, created a massive Nen construct capable of delivering 100 distinct attacks, each in just 0.1 seconds – often with devastating, one-hit results. By expending all his aura, Netero could unleash a beam from the construct powerful enough to instantly vaporize most enemies.

2. Adult Gon

Gon Freecss is a newly qualified Hunter, and his father, Ging, is rumored to be among the most powerful Nen users in the world. Gon himself is naturally gifted, excelling in enhancing his abilities, as well as learning to use Emission and Transmutation. After two years of training, he’s become a skilled fighter and Nen practitioner. While Gon is already strong in his base form, he isn’t unbeatable. However, his adult form is incredibly powerful.

Gon’s transformation into his adult form is considered one of the most powerful in all of Shonen anime. It unlocks his full potential, making him stronger even than Neferpitou. Pitou herself recognized Adult Gon as a real danger to Meruem. This form grants Gon incredible strength, speed, and resilience, and his Jajanken attacks were powerful enough to ultimately destroy Pitou’s body.

1. Meruem

I’ve always thought Meruem was a more compelling villain than the hero in Hunter x Hunter, and he’s unbelievably powerful, too. He was specifically created to be the perfect being, which is why his physical abilities were off the charts – incredible strength, speed, reflexes, and endurance. He was a brutal hand-to-hand fighter; he could dismember someone instantly, and his tail was sharp enough to slice right through flesh with ease.

Honestly, watching Meruem fight Netero was insane! Netero threw everything he had at him – all his physical attacks, and even that devastating Zero Hand – and Meruem barely even flinched! It took a full-on nuclear blast, right to his face, and the resulting radiation to finally bring him down. What’s even more mind-blowing is that Meruem could get stronger by absorbing Nen users, essentially stealing their powers. It felt like there was no ceiling to how powerful he could become – it was genuinely terrifying and amazing to watch!
