The Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika, a remarkably powerful Devil Fruit, first appeared in chapter 1044 of the manga One Piece on March 28, 2022. The main character, Monkey D. Luffy, ate this fruit as a child, but its full potential wasn’t unlocked until he awakened its powers during the Wano arc. For a long time, the Nika fruit was considered the strongest Devil Fruit in the One Piece world. However, recent events in the Elbaf arc have introduced two new Devil Fruits that are now even more powerful than Luffy’s, four years after its initial reveal.
Nerona Imu possesses an exceptionally strong Devil Fruit, potentially the most powerful in the One Piece world. This fruit, combined with the Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Zaza, has a unique ability: it can negate the powers of any other Devil Fruit. It achieves this by exploiting Devil Fruits’ shared weakness – water.
Elbaf Arc’s Climax Introduces Akuma no Mi and Sets Up Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Zaza
The peak of the Elbaf arc in One Piece showcased two incredibly powerful Devil Fruits, both potentially stronger than Luffy’s Mythical Zoan. In One Piece chapter 1179, published on April 6, 2026, creator Eiichiro Oda finally revealed Nerona Imu in person for the first time, and also unveiled their Devil Fruit ability, officially naming it the Akuma no Mi.
I just read One Piece Chapter 1182, which came out on May 10th, 2026, and Eiichiro Oda introduced a seriously powerful Devil Fruit – the Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Zaza. It reminded me of the Nika Fruit because, like it, this one seems to be based on a god – it was actually hinted at way back in chapter 287 during the Skypiea Arc in 2003! Basically, this fruit lets the user transform into the Rain God, the one people pray to for rain. The Rain God can cause massive floods really quickly, and that’s where it gets scary. Because the water completely negates Devil Fruit powers, it makes the user incredibly strong against anyone else who relies on them.
Akuma no Mi Stands As One Piece’s Ultimate Devil Fruit
Although Luffy’s Mythical Zoan fruit, the Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika, is incredibly strong, Imu’s Devil Fruit power is far more powerful. Imu’s fruit is unique – unlike all other Devil Fruits which have two-part names (like the Hito Hito no Mi or the Goro Goro no Mi), Imu’s fruit is simply called ‘The Devil Fruit.’ This single name suggests it’s above all other fruits in power. As revealed in One Piece Chapter 1180, Imu’s fruit allows him to transform into a devil and wield a power known as ‘God’s Domination.’
Loki: So your power is God’s Domination? I think you mean a contract with the devil!
Imu: God? Devil? What is the difference?
— Exchange between Nerona Imu and Loki, One Piece Chapter #1180
Imu’s Devil Fruit is incredibly powerful and adaptable. It not only transforms him into a god-like figure, but also lets him control almost anyone, turning them into his servants. As demonstrated in One Piece chapter 1162, Imu can defeat even immensely strong opponents like Rocks D. Xebec with a single attack, highlighting just how dangerous he is. He’s capable of destroying entire countries and killing millions effortlessly. Furthermore, his fruit grants him access to a force he calls his ‘military might,’ known as Omen or Maki. This ability manifests as black flames that can reshape themselves into weapons – like bullets and bombs – and significantly boost both his attack and defense. Even a single hit from Omen can knock out powerful fighters like Zoro and severely injure durable characters such as Sanji.
My strength comes from a hidden power present in all life. It’s simply human nature to desire power.
Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Zaza Can Cancel All Devil Fruit Powers
I’m absolutely fascinated by the potential of the Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Zaza! We haven’t seen its full capabilities in One Piece yet, but its MMA counterpart is already showing just how dangerous it is. What’s incredible is that, like Blackbeard’s darkness fruit, it can completely negate other Devil Fruit powers. It does this by creating massive floods, literally sinking the ground and making it impossible for Devil Fruit users to effectively use their abilities – instantly weakening them! It’s a truly terrifying counter to almost anything the One Piece world can throw at it.
With the beat of the rain prayers, here comes Rain God Zaza! — Saint Killingham, One Piece Chapter 1182
Rain God Zaza is incredibly powerful, demonstrated in One Piece chapter 1183 (released May 24, 2026, in Weekly Shonen Jump #26). Zaza’s ability isn’t just destructive – it can actually sink landmasses and cause widespread flooding. What makes Zaza especially dangerous is its potential to negate the powers of even the strongest characters, like Nika and even Devil God Nerona Imu, making it one of the most formidable Devil Fruits in the series.

Here’s how it works for people who’ve eaten a Devil Fruit: they lose the ability to swim. This isn’t just the ocean – any body of water, like rivers, pools, or even bathtubs, affects them. Basically, anything that acts like a large pool of water is considered dangerous for them, according to the author Eiichiro Oda.
One Piece’s Final Saga Will Introduce More God Fruits Rivaling Nika
Now that fruits like the Akuma no Mi and Rain God Zaza are comparable in power to Luffy’s Mythical Zoan, the Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika, the series has established a pattern of introducing other god-like characters who could rival him. A prime example is the Ryu Ryu no Mi, Model: Nidhoggr, the Devil Fruit formerly wielded by the Warrior God of Elbaf. Officially revealed in chapter 1175 of Weekly Shonen Jump, this incredibly powerful fruit allows the user to transform into the world’s largest dragon and control lightning. The chapter explicitly states this ability is strong enough to make the user a god of war, capable of fighting on equal footing with Sun God Nika.
Two more powerful abilities, those of the Forest God and Earth God, haven’t been revealed yet. These were hinted at back in One Piece chapter 287, alongside the Sun God and Rain God. Now that two of these four ‘God’ abilities are established within the story, it’s expected the other two will appear soon, and likely possess a similar level of power.
O gods of the sun, rain, forest, and earth, we offer this woman’s blood as a sacrifice to protect our village from ruin. — Shandian Elder, One Piece, Chapter 287
The new powers we’ll see soon are incredibly promising, and seem poised to be a real challenge for Luffy’s Nika form. This will dramatically increase the tension in the story’s final arc, and keep things thrilling even with Luffy now possessing god-like abilities.
