Nintendo has announced, through their Nintendo Today app, that the cooling fan in the Switch 2 Dock will regulate temperature based on the dock’s internal conditions, not solely the console itself. To help potential purchasers, Nintendo also released a video showing various angles of the Switch 2 Dock, demonstrating the location of all the ports during system setup.

At the back, a USB-C port takes care of the power supply. The updated HDMI port on the backside of the Dock now supports 4K 60 Hz resolution for an enhanced gaming experience. To ensure smooth online gaming, an Ethernet port has replaced one of the USB ports, allowing direct wired Internet connection. In contrast, the original Switch Dock allowed users to connect a third-party USB-to-Ethernet adapter directly, which enabled a wired connection via an Ethernet cable.

The video even showed how to connect the power and HDMI cables to the Dock. Although the design of the Switch 2 Dock is similar to the original one, they employ different technologies, meaning the original Nintendo Switch won’t work with the new dock.
