A player enjoying Dark Souls gets a fortunate reprieve when unexpectedly falling from a slender bridge in one of the game’s intermediate dungeons. Despite being released years ago, Dark Souls continues to have a dedicated community of enthusiasts who relish replaying the game, aiming for extraordinary feats and seeking hidden mysteries.
FromSoftware’s Souls series is famous not only for its tough opponents and demanding boss battles, but also for the intricate platforming found within their skillfully designed levels. These games frequently encourage players to check each ledge, sometimes luring them with tantalizing items suspended precariously over deep pits. The platforming in these games might seem basic, but it requires a high level of precision. Players can easily make mistakes if they’re not cautious, especially when navigating through areas with swinging traps and hazards.
On Twitter, Dexerto shared an amusing video featuring a player named Uzume-RR4 from the game Dark Souls. In the 30-second clip, Uzume is navigating a perilous bridge in Sen’s Fortress, one of Dark Souls’ challenging mid-game areas, where massive swinging axes pose a significant threat. The player gets struck by an axe, causing them to fall back on the bridge. As their character lies on the ground, another axe sweeps them off the bridge, sending Uzume plummeting until they are saved by another swinging axe at a lower level. On this swinging axe, Uzume manages to gather themselves, and their character stands back up before safely dismounting the axe and reaching solid ground on the other side.
Dark Souls Player Gets Lucky While Exploring Sen’s Fortress
In many platform games, players typically have enough space between hazards like swinging axes to pause and wait for safety. Yet, it appears that the layout of San’s Fortress in Dark Souls denies this convenience, compelling players to precisely time their sprints to reach the other side. Remarkably, Uzume managed to escape danger thanks to another swinging axe, but executing such a swift dismount under the pressure of such a dramatic rescue required significant skill. In the video, it seems that Uzume leaped off the saving axe and onto a narrow bridge while dodging another swinging axe, with another one briefly obstructing their view for a brief moment.
It’s amazing that it’s been nearly 15 years since the release of Dark Souls, and players are still encountering extraordinary events like Uzume-RR4’s. This just goes to show that FromSoftware’s challenging platforming mechanics have a knack for producing both humorous and exceptionally unlikely situations. Here’s hoping that those who continue to play Dark Souls will stumble upon more of these unforeseen platforming scenarios, and may they manage to survive them!
