As more people become fascinated with Artificial Intelligence (AI), Snapchat, a widely-used social media site, has chosen to implement methods for identifying content produced by AI.
Snapchat AI Contents To Get Watermark
With the latest developments in artificial intelligence technology, distinguishing between genuine and fabricated content has become a challenge. To address this issue, Snapchat plans to add a watermark on every piece of AI-generated material. As reported by Engadget, this watermark will appear as a ghost with shimmering sparkles next to it. Users can spot the mark when they save an image or export the content.
With watermarks, it’s common that you have no say in where the symbol shows up. Thus, Snapchat is continuing to develop this feature, which they plan to release officially in the near future.
Significantly, the social media platform has introduced tagging for in-app content following the implementation of an AI identifier for external images. A new feature called Extend, which magnifies images giving the impression of being enlarged, clearly signifies this as an artificial intelligence capability.
back in the past, Evan Spiegel, Snap Inc.’s CEO, anticipated the potential confusion that AI-generated content could cause. In simpler terms, Spiegel penned down an article previously where he cautioned, “Don’t automatically believe or consider AI-generated outputs as accurate representations of reality. Generative AI is prone to errors and can produce incorrect, inappropriate, or misleading results.”
OpenAI Floats More Unique AI Products
Snapchat isn’t alone in distancing itself from AI-generated media content; tech heavyweights like Alphabet Inc. have followed suit. Meanwhile, the technology and AI sectors have been unveiling advanced tools at an impressive pace. OpenAI, for instance, recently introduced Sora – a groundbreaking text-to-video creation tool following the release of ChatGPT.
This tool is capable of understanding intricate textual details and converting them into high-quality video content. Tyler Perry, a well-known actor and producer, was taken aback by its advertised abilities and temporarily halted the building of his $800 million movie studio. He finds the claimed capabilities of the latest Large Language Model (LLM) quite surprising. Based on his experience, Perry anticipates that many jobs in the film industry may be replaced by AI in the near future.
OpenAI unveiled Voice Engine, an AI technology that generates a person’s voice from text and a short 15-second recording. This innovation is currently being piloted among a limited number of testers, who will assess its safety implications.
