As a passionate crypto investor, I recently came across an intriguing proposition from Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin in one of his blog posts. He suggests, albeit hypothetically, that we could gradually reduce Ethereum’s computing power by up to 99% over the next few years. This move is intended to provide humanity with several years to prepare for the onset of singularity, a pivotal moment in our technological evolution when artificial intelligence may surpass human intelligence.

This could be achieved with the help of location verification and hardware registration. 

Furthermore, Buterin proposes integrating an authorization chip into large-scale machinery or devices, allowing them to function only with approval.

If indications show that near-superintelligent AI may be imminent, taking steps to delay its advance could prove beneficial.

He contends that the capacity to significantly cut global computing power on demand wouldn’t negatively impact developers.

According to Buterin, this factor might decide whether a self-governing, rapidly intelligent AI will ultimately triumph over or be defeated by humanity.

According to a report from U.Today, Buterin has suggested ways to tackle certain risks associated with Artificial General Intelligence (AGI), including scenarios where AGI might take control of physical systems or spread misinformation to influence people.

This statement arises as discussions intensify regarding the possibility of reaching the singularity soon. Notably, OpenAI’s CEO, Sam Altman, has subtly suggested this prospect in a recent online update.
