As an old-time hunter and gatherer of the Carja tribe, I’ve traversed the vast plains and rugged mountains of Horizon Zero Dawn more times than I can count. The journey to find these Metal Flowers has been quite the adventure, reminding me of my days tracking down elusive beasts for their valuable resources.
In Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered, Metal Flowers stand out among unusual collectibles, and their origin isn’t revealed until the game’s final moments. Scattered throughout the game world are numerous examples of these, each accompanied by a poem that suggests they were deliberately positioned.
As a seasoned gamer, I’ve got a tip: If your eyes are sharp enough, you’ll notice these tricky treasures are often nestled among a trio of blooming pink flowers. In this adventure, you’re on the hunt for 30 of them, and they usually appear in groups of three. While merchants’ maps can guide you to their general locations, some are cleverly concealed, so get ready to explore and uncover the hidden ones yourself!
There are some minor story spoilers in this guide!
Where to Find All Set 1 Metal Flowers
In Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered, a majority of the Metal Flowers in the initial set are discoverable as you traverse the Nora Lands early in the game. The goal is to locate a total of ten such items during your exploration.
Metal Flower Mark 1 (A) Location
In the same bunker you visited as a kid in the story’s beginning, where you were Aloy, search for the Metal Flower again when you take control of her as an adult. Return to this bunker and follow its path until you reach the initial section where, as a child, you encountered a holographic lock. Nearby, there’s a hidden doorway blocked by a stalagmite. Use your spear to break it down, and you’ll find the flower behind it.
Metal Flower Mark 1 (B) Location
You’ll find the second blossom nestled by the mountainside behind Aloy and Rost’s residence. To locate it, first, make your way to the quick travel spot situated near their house. Upon arrival, search for an entrance close by their home and pass through it. Then, follow the trail, and you’ll notice a line of ziplines and ropes on your right, hugging the mountain face. Stick to these ziplines and ropes, and eventually, you’ll reach the flower.
Metal Flower Mark 1 (C) Location
You can find this flower just outside the gates to the Embrace (outside of it). It’s beside a small destroyed house.
Metal Flower Mark 1 (D) Location
The blooming plant can be found to the east of the Devil’s Thirst Ruins. It’s situated a little distance from the ruins, comfortably resting among the hills.
Metal Flower Mark 1 (E) Location
During your progress through the Revenge of Nora quest, keep an eye out for this bloom amidst the remains of Devil’s Grief.
Metal Flower Mark 1 (F) Location
Upon gaining access to the bunker where the Shield Weaver armor lies, look for a distinctive flower situated on the left side of the entrance. Keep an eye out for it while you’re navigating through the water, as it can be quite elusive.
Metal Flower Mark 1 (G) Location
You can find this particular flower in the ruins of the Devil’s Grief as well. Fortunately, it stands out due to its location, being right under the symbol indicated on your map, making it easier to spot compared to others.
Metal Flower Mark 1 (H) Location
You have two options for acquiring this particular flower:
Metal Flower Mark 1 (I) Location
Near the quaint hamlet known as Hunters’ Collective, tucked between some foliage, you’ll come across this bloom. However, be mindful as there are numerous machines in the vicinity, so keep an eye out to avoid any unexpected assaults.
Metal Flower Mark 1 (J) Location
As a gamer traversing the game world, I stumbled upon the elusive final bloom of Set 1 hidden near my first approach to Meridian. This beauty was nestled snugly on the right side of the road leading to Daytower, camouflaged among some rocks along the mountain slope.
Where to Find All Set 2 Metal Flowers
In the region where Meridian lies, you’ll find the second collection of Metal Blooms. They might be tricky to find at times, but don’t worry! If you should become disoriented, your Focus can help you locate them. There are a total of ten blooms in this set.
Metal Flower Mark 2 (A) Location
As a gamer, I stumbled upon a rare flower up north from the Dawn’s Sentinel Gate, but beware, a pack of Scrappers is protecting it!
Metal Flower Mark 2 (B) Location
The flower can be found north-east of Daytower, specifically near a big metallic ruin that’s teeming with Snapmaws. It’s situated on a tiny island directly in the center of the river.
Metal Flower Mark 2 (C) Location
Should you depart from Lone Light heading North, you’ll encounter the flower at the point where the path diverges to the left.
Metal Flower Mark 2 (D) Location
To get to this flower, you need to climb the cliffs just North of Sunfall. There is a path on the side of the cliff you can follow that will take you right to it, but be wary of the Glinthawks that are guarding it.
Metal Flower Mark 2 (E) Location
The bloom you seek lies close to the Thunderjaw location, west of Freeheap. It’s smack dab in the center of the region, making it a tricky pick-up as there are usually two formidable mechanical beasts nearby. You’ll either need to tread carefully and stealth past them to collect it, or brace yourself for a fight beforehand.
Metal Flower Mark 2 (F) Location
You can find this flower South of Pitchcliff and near the corrupted zone that has two Rockbreakers. It’s sitting at the top of an outcrop.
Metal Flower Mark 2 (G) Location
The flower is located in the northern part of the map. To reach it, proceed along the route towards Pitchcliff, but continue moving higher up. You’ll find it on a small hillock to your right, with a Stormbird hovering above it.
Metal Flower Mark 2 (H) Location
The flower you’re looking for is situated close to Sunfall, specifically towards the west from where the Banuk Statue stands. Finding your path might be tricky, but by heading towards the cliffs and following them, you should eventually discover it nestled within the canyon.
Metal Flower Mark 2 (I) Location
As you traverse The Field of the Fallen, search for the flower at the peak of the mesa that you and Erend will visit. You can find it on the southern side, and keep an eye out for a Glinthawk nest in the vicinity.
Metal Flower Mark 2 (J) Location
On the westernmost edge of the map, right at the very end of the land, you’ll find this flower. It’s situated close to a vast expanse of water, home to many Snapmaws. However, if you approach from the land side, you can easily sneak around them should you choose to do so.
Where to Find All Set 3 Metal Flowers
You’ll discover that the final batch of Metal Blooms is scattered across the region of Meridian as well. Notably, many of these blooms are nestled within the dense jungle part of the map. Similar to the other sets, there are a total of 10 metal blooms to locate in this area.
Metal Flower Mark 3 (A) Location
In the southeastern region, I stumbled upon this beautiful bloom nestled within the trail that leads to a Sawtooth location. You can easily spot it since it’s right there along the way, simply follow the guide marker for the flower on your map and enjoy the journey!
Metal Flower Mark 3 (B) Location
In the location where you rescued Olin’s family in Collateral, you can discover this particular flower. It’s nestled within a Glinthawk territory, so you might have to tread quietly to avoid them or engage in combat to retrieve it.
Metal Flower Mark 3 (C) Location
To locate the flower you’re seeking, you might need to retrace your steps a bit if you’re sticking to the set route. If you’re journeying from Hunter’s Gathering to Daytower, rather than continuing straight ahead, take a right turn when the path forks to ascend the mountain instead. You’ll find it nestled on a small hilltop above a Sawtooth site on this particular mountain.
Metal Flower Mark 3 (D) Location
In the heart of the jungle, you’ll discover Cauldron XI, which, upon arrival, appears to have been claimed by the Eclipse. Near one of its entrances and in proximity to a Bellowback site, you can spot this particular flower.
Metal Flower Mark 3 (E) Location
This flower grows on a mesa situated to the south of Meridian. By following the trail, you’ll come across a merchant too.
Metal Flower Mark 3 (F) Location
The flower can be found close to the Tallneck, deep within the jungle. It’s situated quite a distance to the south of Meridian and is nestled near one of the campsites you often come across in this area.
Metal Flower Mark 3 (G) Location
By heading directly towards the spot indicated by the map symbol, you’ll locate the flower in the field situated to your right side.
Metal Flower Mark 3 (H) Location
In the game, the second giant robot-like creature you encounter is also where you’ll discover this unique flower. Accessing it might be a bit tricky if you approach from Daytower, but by taking control of the Tallneck and abseiling down, you’ll find yourself very close to the flower on the opposite side of the water.
Metal Flower Mark 3 (I) Location
As I embark on the Honor the Fallen mission, I find myself tasked with assisting a Banuk in ridding their territory of pesky Glinthawks. High above the mesa we’re clearing lies a metallic bloom – it seems our efforts will be rewarded!
Metal Flower Mark 3 (J) Location
Outside of Lone Light, you can spot a bridge, and the flower is nestled just underneath it.
After gathering all the Metal Blooms in Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered, there is a distinctive vendor located in Meridian who offers exclusive rewards for each collection. Be certain to seek him out within the city at your convenience.
