All Monster Wrangler Spells & Abilities in Dragon Quest 3 Remake

As a seasoned adventurer and battle-hardened warrior, I’ve seen it all – the highs, the lows, and everything in between. But nothing quite compares to the thrill of having a Monster Whisperer on my side. The life of a Monster Whisperer is no walk in the park; it’s more like a rollercoaster ride through a jungle filled with unpredictable turns and unexpected allies.

Among the fresh updates in the Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake, the Monster Wrangler profession stands out as the most engaging. Not only does this job allow one character to catch every friendly monster within Dragon Quest 3 Remake, but it also showcases some of the game’s finest combat tools. What makes it even more appealing is that newcomers can benefit from the Monster Wrangler’s advantages right from the start of the game, as they are instantly accessible at Patty’s Party Planning Place. This guide will walk you through utilizing the Monster Wrangler in Dragon Quest 3 Remake, and offer a comprehensive list of all spells & abilities.

Monster Wrangler Best Build – Dragon Quest 3 Remake

Crafting an optimal Monster Wrangler build for the DQIII Remake isn’t particularly challenging, but it does require some patience. Despite this, the wrangler boasts one of the most advantageous skill and spell progressions in the game, making them effective even before they reach their maximum potential.

How to Hire a Monster Wrangler:

There are two ways to add a Monster Wrangler to your party in Dragon Quest 3 Remake. They are as follows:

  • New Hire: At any point in the game, you can visit Patty’s Party Planning Place in Aliahan and hire a Monster Wrangler. This is possible the first time you visit to create your first party, and at any point after. Simply head upstairs and speak to the NPC at PALS. You can create your Monster Wrangler, and either allow the game to assign the various Seeds, or do it yourself.
  • Change Vocation: Not too far into the game, you will unlock the ability to change vocations at Alltrades Abbey. Once any character other than the Hero reaches level 20, they can change vocations. Those players that have already started the game without a Monster Wrangler may want to consider this option, as the character will retain any abilities and spells they have learned from their previous vocation. This will allow you to create some extremely powerful Monster Wranglers.

Monster Wrangler Best Personality:

The Monster Tamer finds the following two characters to be particularly effective: Vamp and Lone Wolf. Although these are the generally preferred choices, any character that enhances Durability and Fortune could prove beneficial for the Monster Tamer. For now, let’s concentrate on the two most favored characters.

In this fictional universe, only characters portraying female roles (specifically, those with the appearance labeled as ‘Appearance B’) can adopt the Vamp persona. Conversely, male characters will transform into Charmer personalities upon reading ‘Guns N Buns’.

  • Vamp: There are two ways to change a character’s personality to Vamp. To change temporarily, you can use the Garter accessory, which can be acquired by turning in five Mini Medals to Manny at the bottom of the well in Aliahan. To permanently change to the Vamp personality, you must read the Guns n’ Buns book. This book can be acquired by defeating the Rank 7 Monster Arena in Manoza. You can get a second copy by wishing for it after defeating Xenlon in the Temple of Trials. There does not appear to be a reliable way to get the Vamp personality from PALS.
  • Lone Wolf: To temporarily change your personality to Lone Wolf, you’ll need a Skull Ring accessory. You can get one early from one of the chests on the top floor of Skyfell Tower. There are no books for Lone Wolf. It seems that you can get the Lone WOlf personality when creating a new Monster Wrangler at PALS if you use three Seeds of Agility, then two Seeds of Wisdom.

All Monster Wrangler Spells & Abilities – Dragon Quest 3 Remake

Initially, it’s worth mentioning that the Monster Wrangler profession doesn’t include any spells. Instead, all the advancements you gain as a Monster Wrangler are categorized under Abilities. The Monster Wrangler possesses two distinct types of Abilities. To start with, they acquire normal abilities that unlock, like other professions, as you climb each level. Additionally, the Monster Wrangler acquires special abilities upon capturing Friendly Creatures. There are several stages you need to achieve, and each one reveals a new ability. These will be divided into two separate sections for clarity below.

Monster Wrangler Ability Progression:
