Patrick Söderlund, CEO of Embark Studios, thinks their in-game social space, Speranza, isn’t being used to its full potential. Players of ARC Raiders are increasingly asking for more features and interaction within it. Because Embark plans to support ARC Raiders for the next ten years, the game will see a lot of updates, and improving Speranza is a major request from the community.
Embark Studio’s ARC Raiders has become their most successful game so far, selling 14 million copies and attracting an average of 6 million weekly players on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. Despite its popularity, the game has faced some challenges. This week, players discovered two significant glitches. The first allowed them to duplicate items like grenades and in-game toys, disrupting gameplay. Embark quickly released a fix, but shortly after, another glitch causing infinite ammunition was found.
ARC Raiders CEO Says Speranza Is “Underutilized”
The team at Embark has been constantly working to fix bugs, address exploits, and improve the overall player experience in ARC Raiders. Players are now hoping to see new content added to the game, and a popular request is for a social hub within the game’s lobby, called Speranza. In a recent interview with IGN, Embark’s CEO acknowledged that Speranza isn’t being used to its full potential. He also shared that the studio is evaluating how to best develop the game’s PvE (player versus environment) features, and that he’s particularly excited about the social aspects of ARC Raiders.
I believe Speranza isn’t being used to its full potential, and we should definitely work on improving that.
So, the CEO mentioned people have been asking about a central meeting place in the game, like a hub world, and he seemed really into the idea – he even said it “could be cool!” He didn’t exactly promise we’ll get one in ARC Raiders, but he definitely seems to think it’s something players would enjoy. He talked about how it would add to the game’s story and world-building, which is something a lot of us are hoping for. Basically, they’re looking at it from all sides and trying to get updates and changes into the game as quickly as possible, focusing on what they think makes ARC Raiders special.
Embark Studios has been considering a social hub for ARC Raiders for a while. Earlier this year, design director Virgil Watkins told PCGamesN that the team had definitely talked about adding one. They ultimately decided against it during development, choosing to focus on other features instead. Watkins thinks any future hub would need to also include a menu system for quick access to things like trading. However, the team is still interested in the idea and continues to discuss it, with strong support from its members.
Don’t expect a social hub in ARC Raiders anytime soon. The developers at Embark Studios are focused on releasing the ‘Shrouded Sky’ update later this month – their second major content addition for 2026. This free update will include a new map condition, a new enemy type, a new Raider Deck, improvements to an existing map, and other additions. More updates are planned for March and April, with a brand-new map and a large new enemy arriving in April.
