Players of the game ARC Raiders are very upset about a recent update. After the release of patch 1.26.0 on April 28th, many took to social media, especially Reddit, to voice their frustration with a change to how long weapons last. They are asking the game’s developer, Embark Studios, to undo the alteration, with some calling it a poor decision and a significant mistake.
This week, Embark released the biggest update yet for ARC Raiders, called Riven Tides. It’s the final update planned for the game’s current roadmap. While past updates added things like new map challenges and weapons, Riven Tides introduces a completely new map and a powerful new enemy. This coastal map is smaller than previous areas like Buried City and Dam Battlegrounds, but it’s also the most dangerous, packed with familiar enemies like Wasps, Fireflies, Hornets, and Leapers, as well as the brand-new Turbine.
ARC Raiders Fans Call for Weapon Durability Changes
The recent Riven Tides update for ARC Raiders brought new content and significant gameplay changes, including adjustments to weapon durability. Players had expressed frustration that high-level weapons didn’t last much longer than lower-level ones, and the developers, Embark, aimed to fix this. However, the changes – which now cause Common weapons to lose 75% durability per shot and Uncommon weapons to lose 50% – have upset many fans. Players feel that popular weapons like the Anvil now require constant repairs, making them less enjoyable to use.

Man, the ARC Raiders subreddit has been blowing up since the update dropped. Seriously, posts are getting thousands of upvotes and comments. A lot of people are really unhappy with how weapon durability was changed – one player is straight-up asking the devs to either undo the changes or tweak the numbers, saying it’s not too late. I even saw a post from someone who’s put 300 hours into the game – 300 hours! – and they called this change the worst thing Embark has ever done. They think it was a really bad decision and a huge mistake.
Players are very frustrated with the recent weapon durability changes. One player explained that crafting gun parts – light, medium, and heavy – now requires finding blueprints, which is time-consuming and discouraging. They’re even reconsidering whether to continue with the expedition because of this grind. The player also pointed out that guns break down much too quickly, adding to the frustration.
The newest update to ARC Raiders included some changes that upset players, including a significant weakening of the popular Photoelectric Cloak. Embark Studios increased the Cloak’s weight from 1 to 3 and its power usage from every 2.5 seconds to every 10 seconds, explaining that they felt it was too powerful compared to other items. Players strongly disagreed with these changes, with one post about the update receiving over 4,000 upvotes and many others calling the Cloak effectively useless.

Man, things aren’t looking great for ARC Raiders. Every time Embark tries to balance the game with a new update, a lot of us players get pretty upset. I think that’s a big reason why the player count on Steam has been dropping lately. The recent Riven Tides update did get over 135,000 players online at its peak, but that’s way down from previous updates. Like, the Shrouded Sky update had over 250,000 players when it launched! Even Flashpoint only hit around 158,000. With Riven Tides doing even worse, Embark really needs to consider how they’re handling updates if they want to keep us playing.
