As a seasoned gamer with years of experience under my belt, I must say that Astro Bot: Rescue Mission has been one heck of a rollercoaster ride! The game never ceases to impress me with its innovative mechanics and immersive world design.
In the intricate Tentacle System, the hidden gem known as Downsize Surprise is unlocked following the completion of the Go-Go Archipelago stage by Astro Bot gamers! Similar to other main stages in the game, Downsize Surprise contains seven bots and three puzzle pieces for players to discover, along with a concealed escape route.
Playing Downsize Surprise will call for players controlling Astro Bot to employ the mouse power-up ability. This enables Astro to shrink dramatically, enabling him to access previously unreachable spots where he can save trapped Bots and gather Puzzle Pieces.
Downsize Surprise Bot #1
In a tree to the right of the second zone, you’ll find the initial robot enclosed in a cage. To free it, players must first shrink themselves, ascend the mushrooms to enter the cage, and then return to their regular size.
Downsize Surprise Bot Puzzle Piece #1
To your left, in the second zone, there’s a tree trunk with an adversary moving in loops around it. Defeat this enemy by targeting its various parts. Once you’ve done so, you’ll be able to tug on a wire that uncovers a hollow within the stump. Inside this hollow, you’ll discover the first Puzzle Piece for the stage.
Downsize Surprise Bot #2
Three wooden crates are situated on the left side of the second zone. If players manage to smash these open, they will discover a secret passageway that can only accommodate smaller characters. Upon entering, the characters should regain their normal size and forcefully break through the wall, revealing it as a prison for the second Downsize Surprise Bot, entangled in a web spun by spiders.
Downsize Surprise Puzzle Piece #2
In due course of the game, characters will enter a bedroom setting. If they transform into mouse form and execute a spin-punch maneuver while standing on a plant pot, they’ll be transported to a different location. Upon arrival, they can scale various objects like furniture and appliances to gain access to the second Downsize Surprise Puzzle Piece hidden within an air conditioning unit.
Downsize Surprise Bot #3
In the bedroom, should the characters reduce their size, they can squeeze beneath the bed’s blankets. Upon this maneuver, they must then return to their regular size, causing the covers to be pushed aside and unveiling the third robot on the stage.
Downsize Surprise Bot #4
Right as players step out of the bedroom, they should look back to spot a Bot attached to the wall, hovering over the passageway they’ve just traversed.
Downsize Surprise Bot #5
Soon after discovering Robot #4, players will have to miniaturize themselves to ascend a tree. Reaching the very top of it will lead them to a bird’s nest where they’ll encounter a miniature Bot modeled after the Prince character from the Katamari series. This Bot is essential for unlocking the Royally Stuck Trophy at the Crash Site.
Downsize Surprise Bot #6
On the opposite side of where a cat is attempting to capture a mouse in a padlock, there’s an area with a green frog. If players position themselves behind this frog and blow into their DualSense controllers, the frog will start releasing bubbles. Players can then shrink down, climb onto one of these bubbles, and ride it up to discover another trapped Bot within a cage. As before, they’ll need to get inside the cage while shrunken and return to normal size once inside to break open the cage and liberate the trapped Bot.
Downsize Surprise Portal / Secret Exit
To locate the Downsize Surprise warp portal, players need to climb aboard one of the frog’s bubbles and ascend. Once at the appropriate height, they should leap onto the branch where the mentioned cage is suspended. After jumping to the next branch, they will discover the warp planet; pressing the nearby button will activate it.
Downsize Surprise Bot #7
In the game, players can discover a Bot resembling Quill from the Moss series suspended from a ledge close to the big clock that Astro needs to scale to access the main stage’s exit.

The final Downsize Surprise Puzzle Piece is at the top of the giant clock.
