Battlefield Studios has announced the plans for Season 2 of Battlefield 6, which will be released on February 17th. The update, also for Battlefield REDSEC, is coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. Players can expect a lot of new content, including weapons, maps, temporary game modes, and various improvements.
So, Battlefield Studios extended the first season by a month because we were all still playing, which was cool. But everyone was really hyped for Season 2! They dropped a bit of a bummer announcement last month though – it was delayed. They said they needed more time to polish things and really listen to what we, the players, wanted. They kept Season 1 going with some fresh weekly challenges, a new way to earn stuff, and kept the Battle Pass rolling. Now, finally, they’ve given us a sneak peek at what’s coming in Season 2, and honestly, it looks pretty awesome!
Battlefield 6 Season 2 Roadmap Revealed
After details about the new maps for Battlefield 6 Season 2 were accidentally revealed last month, EA and Battlefield Studios have now officially announced the season’s roadmap, launching February 17th. Players can look forward to a new map called Contaminated, set at a German airbase in the European mountains. The map’s size falls between Eastwood and Mirak Valley, and it’s similar in scale to classic Battlefield maps like St. Quentin Scar from Battlefield 1 and Arras from Battlefield 5.
In Season 2, a new limited-time event called VL-7 Strike will launch. This event introduces a psychoactive smoke to Multiplayer areas, triggered by a NATO attack on Pax Armata. While the smoke won’t hurt players, it causes hallucinations, making soldiers think twice before entering without a mask. This creates new strategic opportunities and ways to win. VL-7 Strike will have its own playlist and include the new map, Contaminated.
Fans of REDSEC, the free-to-play Battle Royale mode in Battlefield 6, have new content to look forward to in Season 2. The VL-7 psychoactive smoke will be featured in two limited-time game modes: Gauntlet Altered State and Synthesis. Gauntlet Altered State is a fast-paced elimination mode where squads compete to complete objectives while dealing with the smoke’s disorienting effects. In Synthesis, players can find or earn the VL-7 Strike Package, which functions like a smoke or mortar strike. According to Battlefield Studios, the VL-7 smoke will appear in areas where the Synthesis experiments went wrong, and these leaks will lead to valuable loot.
Season 2 of Battlefield 6 will bring more than just new content. Players can expect major improvements to the game, including more consistent and predictable gun control, smoother and more responsive character movement during intense fights, and clearer, more reliable sound during matches.
