Best Esper Zero Build Guide in NTE

Esper Zero is the central character in Neverness to Everness, and excels as a support damage dealer. They can quickly activate Esper Cycle Reactions, which are perfect for teams built around powerful, reaction-based attacks. Beyond this, Esper Zero’s Ultimate ability deals significant damage on its own, even without those reactions. This flexibility allows for two different ways to build Esper Zero in NTE, or you can combine both approaches for the best results.

Best Esper Zero Arcs in NTE

As a big fan of Esper Zero, I’m really excited about their signature Arc, ‘The Rain That Shook The World’! It feels made for them. All the bonuses on it perfectly complement how I like to play Zero. For example, it boosts Crit Rate, which is awesome, and passively increases the damage of their Redirect Skill and Ultimate. Plus, using a Redirect Skill actually gives you a bonus to Cycle Intensity, which is a huge help. It’s just a perfect fit!

Esper Zero is built around using their powerful Ultimate ability and Redirect Skills. The Ultimate does massive damage, and Redirect not only deals good damage but also quickly replenishes Esper Zero’s energy. The Rain That Shook The World further enhances this strategy and boosts Esper Zero’s Cycle Intensity – more on that stat later.

Day Off Arc

If you’d prefer not to buy The Rain That Shook The World, you can unlock the free Day Off Arc in NTE by completing tasks for Eclipse. Eclipse is a special character working with BAC, and you’ll need to find them in certain locations around Hethereau at specific times.

The Day Off Arc is a great choice for boosting your Ultimate Energy. Its secondary stat, Charge Efficiency, helps you charge your Ultimate faster. Plus, Day Off can summon an Eclipse for 40 seconds. While the Eclipse is active, defeating enemies restores Ultimate Energy – up to 5 times, giving you a significant boost. This allows you to use Esper Zero’s Ultimate more often during battles.

Fluff of Fearlessness Arc

Okay, so if you got the battle pass, awesome news! You can unlock the Fluff of Fearlessness Arc when you hit rank 30. It’s really good because it gives you a ton of Crit Rate and boosts your attack after you use your Ultimate. I’ve been reading up on it, and it seems like building an Esper Zero around the Fluff of Fearlessness Arc leans towards a more self-focused damage dealer in NTE. But honestly, if you load them up with enough attack power and crit, it’ll still help you clear content!

Best Esper Zero Cartridges

The Lost Radiance Cartridge set boosts Cosmos damage and lets your character ignore 20% of enemy defense after using their Ultimate ability. This is particularly helpful for characters focused on dealing damage, like Chiz, Hotori, and Esper Zero. While Lost Radiance is powerful for quickly defeating enemies, Esper Zero doesn’t spend much time actively fighting, so you won’t be able to fully utilize the set’s 20-second debuff effect.

If you prefer Esper Zero to play a supporting role in battles, equip the Speedy Hedgehog Cartridge set. This set speeds up how quickly Esper Zero can use their Ultimate ability and also gives your whole team an attack boost whenever the Ultimate is activated. The Speedy Hedgehog set is perfect for a support-focused Esper Zero in NTE, and it synergizes especially well with the Rain That Shook The World Arc, providing two buffs with each Ultimate instead of just one.

Stats and Substats

Like all damage-dealing characters, Esper Zero benefits from stats that boost offensive power. I’ve already covered those key stats in the Overview section, so let’s focus on the two main ways you can build this character: a Crit-focused build and one that maximizes Cycle Intensity.

You can build Esper Zero similarly to a main damage dealer like Nanally by focusing on increasing their Cosmos DMG, ATK, and Crit stats, and using the Lost Radiance Cartridge to make them more effective in battle. While they won’t deal quite as much damage as dedicated damage dealers, Esper Zero’s attacks will be significantly stronger, and their Skills and Ultimate will deliver massive bursts of damage. This makes Esper Zero a great choice for quickly taking down enemies.

You can also focus on increasing Cycle Intensity to boost the damage from Esper Cycle Reactions, especially the Blossom reaction which creates Vita Buds. These Vita Buds function like small, automated turrets. Characters who can enhance Vita Buds will be particularly effective with units that have high Cycle Intensity.

  • Nanally’s More Than Passionate Support Skill increases the number of missiles that Vita Buds fire while reducing the interval between each shot to just 1 second.
  • Hotori’s Ghost Orchid Crest Support Skill allows Vita Buds to continue firing even while time is stopped.
  • Jiuyuan’s Seize the Moment Support Skill raises the maximum on-field Vita Bud limit to 6, and it increases the number of Vita Buds she spawns via Esper Cycles to 2.

To quickly get four Vita Buds onto the field, repeatedly build up and activate Fill Esper Zero’s Cycle Reaction. Then, use their Redirect skill to recharge the Cycle Energy and trigger another reaction. Do this process with Jiuyuan.

Okay, so I’ve been figuring out Esper Cycle Reactions, and it turns out the character with the highest Cycle Intensity is the one the game uses to calculate damage! That’s huge. It basically means I can really focus on maxing out Esper Zero’s Cycle Intensity – even if it means the other characters on my team have none at all. This is awesome because it frees them up to build all the other important stats, like damage percentage and critical damage. It’s a really efficient way to build my team!
