BLAST R6 Major Montreal Viewership Suffers Early On

As someone who has been following Rainbow Six Siege esports for quite some time now, I must admit that the current BLAST R6 Major Montreal tournament is not living up to its potential. The viewership numbers are significantly lower compared to the Manchester Major, which was an epic event to say the least.

As we listen, the BLAST R6 Major Montreal competition is progressing, and by this weekend, it’ll conclude as the play shifts from ‘Phase Two’ into ‘Phase Three’. Currently, the sixteen teams that qualified for the Swiss System section of the $750,000 tournament are engaged in fierce battles, but soon, a champion will be celebrated.

As a gamer, I must admit that this current tournament just isn’t living up to the hype of the last BLAST R6 Major in Manchester, England. According to a report from Esports Charts, the opening days here in Montreal drew about 36% fewer viewers compared to the event held back in May. So far, things haven’t really picked up.

Weaker Traction

Even though the tournament is nearing its conclusion, the viewer numbers have not increased significantly as compared to the initial day. On the opening day of the Montreal Major, according to Esports Charts, the peak viewership was recorded at 55,000 users. However, by today, that figure has only risen to 78,000 viewers. In contrast, the Manchester Major peaked at a staggering 162,000 viewers.

The R6 Major we recently had was undeniably the best-attended one yet – this was significantly boosted by an electrifying grand final featuring Team BDS, who were widely expected to triumph, against beastcoast, a team demonstrating remarkable resilience and determination on their underdog journey.

According to a report by Esports Charts, there were fewer commentators covering the Montreal event, potentially contributing to lower viewership numbers. However, it’s important to note that this is only a slight decrease. The event still features top teams like FaZe Clan and Team Liquid, so fans are likely eagerly anticipating the action.

Looking forward to witnessing how the excitement builds up as we approach the weekend. This coming Sunday marks the climax of the BLAST R6 Major Montreal, where the final game is expected to draw the largest and most enthusiastic crowd of the tournament.
