Boruto Has Been Beaten By A New Gen Manga

This article contains spoilers for Boruto and Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo.

When the popular anime series Naruto ended over ten years ago, many fans were disappointed. The announcement of a sequel, Boruto, offered a glimmer of hope, especially since the first movie was written by the original creator. However, over time, Boruto hasn’t quite met expectations. Some fans feel it has even diminished the impact of beloved characters from the original series. While Boruto is still enjoyable and action-packed, it hasn’t successfully continued the Naruto story, and its popularity is declining, particularly with less involvement from Naruto and Sasuke.

Recently, a sequel to Jujutsu Kaisen called Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo was released, and it’s already proving popular with fans. What’s impressive is that Modulo is building its own world and introducing new, engaging characters without needing to heavily depend on the original series’ established characters to succeed.

Boruto Couldn’t Live Up To The Standard Of Naruto

JJK Modulo Has Proven To Be An Amazing Jujutsu Kaisen Sequel

Boruto is the official continuation of the popular series Naruto. It began in 2016, just two years after Naruto concluded in 2014. However, a major difference is that Boruto isn’t written by Naruto’s original creator, Masashi Kishimoto. Instead, it’s written by his former editor, Mikio Ikemoto, though Kishimoto still oversees the story. While many fans were initially excited about seeing the next generation of characters, the series hasn’t lived up to expectations for most fans of the original.

The Boruto manga initially gained traction by featuring popular characters from the original Naruto series, particularly Naruto and Sasuke. While characters like Kawaki and Boruto showed promise, the new generation generally failed to capture fans’ interest. A major issue was how the series diminished the impact of established characters, often using them to elevate the newer ones. Key relationships, like the bond between Naruto and Kurama, were broken, and powerful abilities, such as Sasuke’s Rinnegan, were taken away. Sakura hasn’t had a meaningful role, and even the other Kage leaders were only used sparingly.

Recently, a sequel to the popular manga Jujutsu Kaisen began, and it’s already proven to be very successful. After the original series ended, many thought the story was finished, but the author, Gege Akutami, surprised everyone with a follow-up called Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo. In just a few chapters, Modulo has captivated fans, with some even believing the writing is stronger than the original series, showcasing how much Akutami’s skills have developed as a manga creator.

Though familiar faces might appear, including Yuji, the story primarily focuses on a new group of characters: Yuka, Tsurugi, and Maru. They’re engaging and capable of driving the plot forward, and the new backstory and world-building are exceptionally well done. Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo is a fantastic follow-up to Gege’s original, gritty series, and it successfully meets all expectations set by its predecessor.

Both Boruto and Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo include aliens, but Modulo does a much better job of integrating them into the story. Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo thoroughly explores the aliens’ background – their culture, home, and motivations – making them feel like a natural part of the narrative, something Boruto didn’t quite accomplish with the Otsutsuki clan.

Boruto Sales Keep Dropping, And Fans Are Concerned for the Future Of The Series

While Boruto remains well-liked, its declining sales figures are becoming increasingly noticeable. Each new volume sells fewer copies than the last. The series was most popular during the big fights with Sasuke and Naruto, but sales have dropped considerably since then.

Okay, so I’m really enjoying how Boruto and the newer characters are developing in Two Blue Vortex – they’re actually getting some great moments! But honestly, it feels like a lot of fans are still waiting for Naruto and Sasuke to really get involved again. I think once those two powerhouses return, that’s when the series will really take off and get everyone hyped!

It’s too early to predict how well JJK Modulo will sell since the first volume hasn’t been released yet. However, the writing is excellent, and fans of JJK are already enjoying it.
