As a seasoned analyst with over two decades of experience observing the dynamic world of tech and politics, I find the recent development between Elon Musk’s X and Brazilian authorities intriguing, to say the least. The escalating conflict between Musk and Brazil’s top court, led by Minister Alexandre de Moraes, has reached a critical juncture with the suspension of X in Brazil.
Elon Musk’s company X is facing a ban in Brazil due to a ruling by the country’s highest court, the Federal Supreme Court. The court, headed by Minister Alexandre de Moraes, suspended the platform because it didn’t appoint a legal representative within the given 24-hour period. This decision intensifies the ongoing dispute between Elon Musk and Brazilian authorities.
Elon Musk’s X Banned In Brazil
The highest court in Brazil has decided to temporarily halt X, alleging that the social media company has consistently disregarded court orders requiring them to assign a legal representative. As per recent news, Minister Alexandre de Moraes has ordered the National Telecommunications Agency (ANATEL) to block access to this platform in Brazil within the upcoming 24 hours.
Furthermore, he mandated companies such as Apple and Google to delete Elon Musk’s social media app from their digital marketplaces over a period of five days. Moraes condemned the platform due to its role in fostering a “chaotic frontier” within Brazil.
The Minister argued that the platform has been utilized to spread hate speech, racism, and anti-democratic content on a mass scale. Notably, he had imposed a fine of R$50,000 per day on users who attempted to access the platform using VPNs and other means.
