Breaking: Sony Announces Ethereum L2 Soneium On Optimism, These Crypto To Rally

As a seasoned researcher with a keen interest in blockchain technology and its potential applications, I find the announcement of Sony Group’s Soneium blockchain particularly intriguing. Having closely followed Sony’s strategic moves over the years, it is clear that their entry into the blockchain space is not just another corporate move, but a strategic decision to tap into the burgeoning Web3 ecosystem.

As a crypto investor, I’m thrilled to share that Sony Group has unveiled its own blockchain project called “Soneium,” in collaboration with Startale. This innovative public Ethereum layer 2 blockchain is constructed using Optimism’s OP Stack. With backing from heavyweights like Astar Network, Alchemy, Chainlink, Circle, Optimism, and The Graph, the agile chain aspires to draw app developers from diverse sectors such as entertainment, gaming, and finance, creating a vibrant ecosystem within Sony’s digital landscape.

Sony Aims to Revolutionize Ethereum Layer 2

According to a press release dated August 23rd, Sony Block Solutions Labs – a partnership between Sony Group and Startale Labs – unveiled Soneium, their upcoming Ethereum layer 2 next-generation blockchain solution.

The organization claims that Soneium is intended to be a flexible, all-purpose blockchain designed to give power to developers, innovators, and user groups.

According to Jun Watanabe, Chairman of Sony Block Solutions Labs, it’s crucial for Sony Group, known for its mission to “Bring emotion to the world with creativity and technology,” that they advance a complete Web3 solution using blockchain technology.

In the coming days, our organization might expand its current Web3 offerings, including potential new services, all under the umbrella of Soneium. The blockchain we’re developing is designed to emphasize three key aspects: fostering emotional connections, promoting creativity, and making a widespread impact (or “going mainstream”).

Soneium Testnet Launch

As a researcher involved, I’m excited to share that we are soon unveiling our test network (testnet). This means that developers and creators like myself have the opportunity to commence the development of their unique applications directly on this testnet. We’re providing initial developer tools and Software Development Kits (SDKs) for a seamless experience.

On the Ethereum Layer 2 blockchain, data processing occurs at high speeds with minimal transaction fees. This network has been purposefully engineered for a strong development ecosystem, offering an array of user-friendly tools and resources tailored to developers and creators. Moreover, it strives to enhance accessibility.

Crypto to Benefit From New Blockchain

Launching the Soneium blockchain is expected to significantly increase both network activity and value for Astar Network, as well as its partners such as Chainlink, Optimism, and The Graph, leading to a potential rise in their prices.

Astar Network is shifting its zkEVM to Soneium, boosting both Astar’s prominence and practical applications. Notably, the income produced from this transition will be channeled back into Astar itself.

Astar Network is undergoing a two-phase evolution – Phase 1 has begun.

We’re transitioning Astar zkEVM to @soneium L2, an Ethereum Layer 2 developed by Sony Block Solutions Labs – a joint venture by Sony Group and @StartaleHQ. This strategic alignment sets the stage for new…

In simpler terms, Circle is reshaping the Web3 world by offering USDC (a type of digital dollar) on Soneium, which makes Web3 interactions more user-friendly.
