The prospect of being able to play solo in an extraction shooter is like finding a hidden stash of loot in the game itself – pure joy.

When a new extraction shooter game is about to launch, one common query that arises is: Is it possible to play it on your own? During a recent Q&A session on Discord, the developer Fun Dog Studios mentioned that it’s possible to complete the entire game by yourself. In certain situations, you might even be able to finish a raid without ever having to shoot. This approach is valid and some of the developers at the studio often employ it.

Can You Hire AI Companions in The Forever Winter?

On the first day of The Forever Winter gameplay, a feature is available for solo players that lets them employ allies as companions. These NPC allies will abide by your instructions, enabling them to guard certain areas, trail behind you, remain stationary, or engage in combat with enemies at your command.

These “AI companions” are said to appear occasionally when you either can’t or choose not to pair up with other players. I’m wondering if this feature can be used during each raid or if it comes with some sort of cool-down period.
