Capcom is Absolutely on Fire Right Now

Capcom is having a fantastic run, and shows no signs of slowing down. For decades, they’ve been a leading video game developer and publisher, creating popular and influential franchises like Mega Man, Street Fighter, Resident Evil, Devil May Cry, and Monster Hunter, among many others.

Capcom, like all game developers, has experienced both successes and challenges. Around ten years ago, the Resident Evil series struggled, and several Mega Man games were scrapped, leading some to believe Capcom’s prime was over. However, the company rebounded strongly with Resident Evil 7, which revitalized the popular survival-horror franchise. While not every game has been a hit since then, Capcom has consistently released excellent games.

Capcom’s 2026 Output Has Been Incredible

Capcom is having a fantastic year! So far in 2026, they’ve released three critically acclaimed games: Resident Evil Requiem (rated 89), Monster Hunter Stories 3 (rated 85), and Pragmata (rated 87). These are all among the highest-rated games of the year, and Resident Evil Requiem is one of the best Resident Evil games ever made. With more releases planned, Capcom has a lot to offer players in the coming months.

While Capcom hasn’t revealed all its plans for 2026 yet, we know a reboot of the classic samurai series, Onimusha: Way of the Sword, is coming that year. Early looks at the game have been very promising, and if Capcom’s other titles are anything to go by, Onimusha: Way of the Sword could easily be one of the best new games released in 2026.

Capcom’s Hot Streak Has Been Going on For Years At This Point

Capcom began a period of major success in 2017 with the release of Resident Evil 7, and they’ve consistently delivered strong games since then. While not every attempt has worked – games like the multiplayer dinosaur shooter Exoprimal and the Resident Evil Re:Verse spin-off didn’t find a large audience – most of Capcom’s recent releases have been excellent.

Capcom had a strong showing at The Game Awards, with Street Fighter 6 winning Best Fighting Game in 2023 and Devil May Cry 5 taking home Best Action Game in 2019. Several Resident Evil titles have also been recognized with Game of the Year nominations. Beyond new releases, Capcom has successfully revisited its classic games through remakes, collections, and remasters, giving fans both nostalgia and fresh experiences.

Capcom hasn’t revealed much about its upcoming games, but leaks suggest we’ll see more Resident Evil remakes. Code: Veronica is reportedly planned for 2027, followed by Resident Evil Zero in 2028, and a remake of the original Resident Evil is also potentially in development. Officially, Mega Man: Dual Override is confirmed for 2027 and looks like a fantastic return to the classic Mega Man style.
