Summary
- A poorly executed brainwashing plot in Captain America: Brave New World creates confusion for viewers.
- The film ignores significant events from Secret Invasion, leaving crucial details unaddressed.
- An oddly fast spread of bad news in the movie suggests laziness by the writers and detracts from the story.
The movie “Captain America: Brave New World” made its debut in cinemas with great anticipation, hinting at a new phase for Sam Wilson following his previous adventures within the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Yet, as viewers delve deeper into the film’s finer points, they are encountering plot elements that seem less than harmonious. While some plot developments smoothly integrate both this movie and the larger narrative, others appear awkwardly handled or inadequately clarified, prompting fans to question the reasoning behind key choices that don’t quite add up logically. These apparent flaws in “Captain America: Brave New World” tend to divert attention away from the overall storyline.
For fans of “Captain America: Brave New World,” some aspects of how the plot unfolds may diminish the overall enjoyment of the movie since it creates a more awkward flow. Discussing this film, which was eagerly awaited by many, the glaring plot inconsistencies make it challenging to fully immerse oneself in the action and truly appreciate the experience. It is plausible that these issues might be one reason why “Brave New World” has received less-than-favorable reviews.
Captain America: Brave New World’s Brainwashing Was Poorly Carried Out

As The Leader’s scheme progressed, it appeared to be a plan that was equally captivating and perilous. The notion of manipulating numerous virtuous individuals into committing evil acts through flashing lights and music was undoubtedly ominous. However, as the story unfolded, it grew increasingly challenging to decipher several aspects of this scheme.
In the movie “Captain America: Brave New World,” an aspect that remains unexplained is why The Leader doesn’t delve into the details of how he controlled those he brainwashed, the mechanisms behind this mind control, and why, if he had the ability to reach everyone, he chose not to manipulate figures like Captain America or President Ross.
In the latest Captain America movie, the method used by the villain to manipulate others was only briefly mentioned in a casual comment by Ross, something like “He can hack files, so why could he brainwash someone?” This seems crucial to the storyline, yet it appeared as if the writers lost interest and hurriedly moved on from this plot point without providing a more detailed explanation.
Captain America: Brave New World Completely Ignored Secret Invasion’s Big Reveal

Initially, when “Secret Invasion” debuted on Disney+, it seemed designed to significantly alter the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). However, much like “Brave New World,” it received predominantly unfavorable critiques and pushback from fans. Yet, there were enough intriguing events in the series that it warranted at least a nod of acknowledgment.
In my opinion, wouldn’t it be logical to establish some sort of procedure for identifying Skrulls when dealing with international governments experiencing trust issues? I mean, considering the incident where Ross apparently replaced a president who turned out to be a Skrull, it seems like this could have been a topic of discussion at least once. After all, one of the most significant events in the Marvel Cinematic Universe was the revelation that an alien race had covertly infiltrated our world.
Bad News Travels Oddly Fast In Captain America: Brave New World
In the movie “Captain America: Brave New World,” there are two occasions where news spreads unusually quickly. The first instance occurs when The Leader’s brainwashed minions attack Isaiah Bradley. Strangely, Joaquin is informed about the situation at the Raft shortly after the attack, even though Sam and Joaquin had already been dismissed by President Ross at that point. It raises questions about who at the Raft could have sent a message to the man now acting as a vigilante, and how they managed to relay this information to Sam before the president himself was aware of it. This is intriguing because later in the story, it’s revealed that Ross only learns about the prison situation much later on.
The rapid dissemination of unfavorable news becomes even more astonishing when The Leader voluntarily surrenders to authorities and, almost instantaneously, the media possesses a wealth of details about his manifesto, which appears damning against President Ross. This portrayal gives the impression that Ross is conducting a press conference in the Rose Garden while Stearns is being apprehended.
The swift spreading of negative news is particularly astonishing when The Leader hands himself over to authorities and the media obtains a great deal of information about his manifesto, which seems incriminating for President Ross. This depiction suggests that Ross is giving a press conference in the Rose Garden while Stearns is being arrested.
As the press conference begins, a journalist is querying him about the arrest and the claims by the alleged mastermind. It seems this event was orchestrated to provoke Ross’s anger, but it appears there could have been additional events that transpired in between to slow down the rapid spread of the news.
In the movie “Captain America: Brave New World”, similar to other apparent inconsistencies, it seems as though the authors may have taken shortcuts, which is unexpected for a film within the Marvel Cinematic Universe given its significant standing.
