Cardano Completes Crucial Vote For New Constitutional Committee

As an analyst with extensive experience in the blockchain and cryptocurrency sector, I am thrilled to see the Cardano community come together to elect its inaugural Interim Constitutional Committee (ICC) members through a transparent, democratic process. The high level of engagement and participation is a testament to the community’s commitment to upholding the interim Constitution and shaping the future governance decisions on the Cardano blockchain.

As a Cardano analyst, I’m excited to report that our community has recently concluded the election process for the founding members of the Interim Constitutional Committee (ICC). In this capacity, these individuals will be responsible for ensuring adherence to the interim Constitution and making essential on-chain governance decisions on the Cardano blockchain during its initial stages.

Cardano Concludes Crucial Vote

Twenty-one individuals from various sectors of the community put forth their applications for the open ICC position. The selection process elicited substantial involvement, with approximately 455 million ADA tokens being wagered and a total of 1,947 distinct ballots being cast. Community members took part in a clear, ranked-choice voting methodology to determine their preferred three candidates.

The elected committees are as follows:

The Cardano Atlantic Council amassed the most votes, accounting for 51.4% or an impressive 232,162,950,759,731 Lovelace (the smallest unit of ADA). This esteemed body is composed of six individuals hailing from various backgrounds: Adam Dean and Jennifer Brito from the United States, Beatrice Anihiri of Norway, Mike Hornan from Canada, Thiago Nunes from Brazil, and Richard McCracken representing the USA once again.

The Japanese team at Cardano, consisting of Seira Yun, Shusuke Wakuda, Rena Oishi, and Hideki Takeshi, gained a significant 18.7% share of the votes. This equates to an impressive total of 84,639,727,186,264 Lovelace units.

The Eastern Cardano Council, comprised of representatives from various countries including Jo Allum (New Zealand), Mark Byers and Phil Lewis (Australia), Oscar Hong (South Korea), Ha Nguyen (Vietnam), and Yuki Oishi (Japan), secured 10.3% of the total votes in the election, equating to approximately 46,481,326,751,056 Lovelace units.

Mauro Agustín Andreoli from Argentina, Scientific Analytical Tools LLC based in UAE, and Joshua Stone representing the USA are the next in line to take up positions in the ICC council. They garnered the fourth to sixth highest number of votes. In case any of the top three councils fail to carry out their duties, these individuals and entities will step in, ensuring a seamless continuity and robustness in Cardano’s governance structure.

Patrick Tobler, the CEO of NMKR, expressed high assurance in the recently elected Interim Constitutional Committee, stating, “I am quite assured about these election outcomes. The Cardano Community will be effectively represented in this committee.” This statement underscores the community’s faith in the democratic procedure and the chosen members’ abilities to steer Cardano through its upcoming phase of governance.

Intersect has made an announcement that the initiation process for the newly-elected members will commence soon. Alongside establishing the new committee, Intersect is inviting applications to establish its Constitutional Council. Being part of this council signifies having one vote on the ICC, thus providing an opportunity for those who didn’t make it into this election round to still engage significantly in governance matters.

As a researcher looking into the future developments of Cardano, I can tell you that the drafting process for its final Constitution is set to begin in August. This endeavor will encompass over 50 workshops located around the world. The anticipated conclusion of this collaborative effort will be a Constitutional Convention taking place in Buenos Aires during December. The resulting final Constitution will serve as the foundational governance structure, significantly influencing Cardano’s course for years to come within the Voltaire era.

At press time, ADA traded at $0.389.
