As a seasoned crypto investor with over a decade of experience in this dynamic and often unpredictable market, I’ve seen my fair share of incidents like the recent one involving Cardano Foundation’s Twitter account. However, what sets apart this community from many others is their swift response, transparency, and resilience during such challenging times.
Recently, the Cardano Foundation announced they regained management of their main X account (which was previously on Twitter), after an unexpected intrusion.
Through a post on platform X, the Cardano Foundation has spoken about the issue at hand and offered reassurance to its followers regarding measures being implemented to minimize potential dangers in the future. Moreover, they have announced that regular updates are set to continue once more.
As a researcher involved with the Cardano Foundation, I’m delighted to report that we’ve regained control over our official X channel following an unauthorized intrusion. Regular updates will be resumed as usual. We extend our gratitude to those who promptly notified us about this issue. A special acknowledgement goes out to…

On December 8, an unscrupulous individual managed to infiltrate the X account of the Cardano Foundation, spreading misinformation. This malicious actor publicized a fraudulent “ADAsol” token and falsely declared that the Cardano Foundation would cease backing ADA. Additionally, they disseminated a fabricated SEC lawsuit notice.
The breach in security took place from December 8th at 1 PM Central European Time up until December 12th at 5 PM CET. During this period, the account was employed to share questionable content that was not aligned with the perspectives or approval of the Cardano Foundation.
In quick reaction to the event, the Cardano community quickly disseminated an important notice to others: The Cardano Foundation’s account had been hacked, but there was no SEC lawsuit, no token destruction, and no “ADASol” bridge. Furthermore, they were reminded that members of the Cardano Foundation team will never contact them privately to ask for anything.
The Cardano Foundation swiftly acted to take down fraudulent posts, including the one about ADAscam, and an announcement concerning a possible SEC legal action. They did this while working on restoring the hacked account.
Comprehensive investigation underway
To clarify, the Cardano Foundation wanted the Cardano community to know that no other systems they manage were impacted by this occurrence.
The Cardano Foundation acknowledged and appreciated those who promptly brought the matter to their attention. Extra appreciation was extended towards the Cardano community, as well as their wider network of associates and peers, for their priceless assistance during these difficult times.
According to the tweet, we’re actively investigating the incident to find those responsible, figure out how it happened, and put safeguards in place to stop such incidents from happening again.
With activities on X returning to usual, the Cardano Foundation, a non-profit entity based in Switzerland, continues to uphold its goal: fostering the growth of Cardano and strengthening the Cardano community.
