Cardano Rolls out Major Node Update in Anticipation of Chang 2: Details

As a seasoned analyst with years of experience under my belt, I find myself intrigued by the imminent Chang 2 hard fork on Cardano. With its anticipated completion marking the transition to the age of Voltaire, this upgrade holds immense potential for the blockchain’s governance evolution.

The upcoming Chang 2, a controlled Chang hard fork, is expected to mark Cardano‘s transition into the era of Voltaire, symbolizing its transformation.

As a crypto investor, I’ve been following the progress of Cardano closely, and it’s exciting to see that the pre-release of Cardano node v10 is now available for testing. In sync with the preparations for the Chang 2 hard fork, they’ve just rolled out version 10.1.1 of Cardano Node. I can’t wait to see what this means for the future of my investment!

The Chang upgrade’s implementation is anticipated to start in November, marking an essential stage in Cardano’s governance transformation. To be successful, Chang #2 necessitates the execution of five key governance decisions on the blockchain.

The new release of Cardano Node (version 10.1.1) has been published and is now approved for mainnet use! This version is specifically for the Hard Fork (HF) to Chang#2. It’s important to update your nodes, especially those on the preview network, as we plan to fork later this week. More details can be found here: [provide link]

During the initial stage of governing procedures, it’s essential for the Interim Constitution Committee (ICC) and Stake Pool Operators (SPOs) to cast their votes as needed. Delegated Representatives (DReps), however, do not participate in the voting process during the hard fork. Instead, they join the governance structure once Chang #2 has been implemented.

Until Cardano’s Stake Pool Operators reach the necessary threshold and the Interim Constitution Committee approves it with a “yes” vote, the decision to upgrade will be postponed as governance is currently in development phase.

If the community approves the hard fork, the update will take effect five days from now (or one epoch), thereby activating Cardano’s ultimate governance features as outlined in CIP-1694.

About node 10.1.1

The new Cardano Node 10.1.1 is a mainnet release of the Cardano node that is capable of crossing the Chang 2 hard fork.

As per GitHub’s documentation, the updated Node version offers enhancements to its governance system. These improvements include the ability to delegate SPO (Stake Pool Operator) roles to predetermined voting options, as well as automatic abstention for DRep (Development Representative) votes through the auto-abstain feature. This replaces abstaining via rewards address delegation. Additionally, it introduces new Plutus primitives, as outlined in CIP-0122, CIP-0123, and CIP-0127.

The update also includes some other improvements to the ledger, CLI, API and networking code bases.
