Cardano Spotlights Stunning Growth Milestones as Chang 2 Upgrade Nears

As a seasoned researcher with years of experience in blockchain technology and its various applications, I find myself deeply intrigued by the latest developments in the Cardano ecosystem. The strides being made towards full on-chain governance are truly commendable and signify a significant step forward for decentralized networks.


Cardano is preparing for the second stage of the Chang project, a crucial update that will introduce the remaining key aspects of Cardano’s minimal on-chain governance in its final form.

In their latest tweet, Input Output Global (IOG), a key player in Cardano development, outlined the significant advancements and updates made within the Cardano community during October. The count of token policies rose by 3,287, while the quantity of minted native tokens saw an increase of approximately 60,000. Additionally, there were 3,358 new Plutus scripts added, bringing the total to over 91,698.

Over the past month, I’ve observed a significant jump in transaction volume, with approximately 0.98 million additional transactions, bringing the total to a staggering 97.92 million.

For October, advancements encompassed the completion of last-minute enhancements and corrections for the Conway ledger epoch, which will be active during the startup phase. Moreover, version 10.1.1 of the node software was launched.

This marks a significant milestone, as Cardano Node version 10.1.1 represents the first mainnet release that can handle the Chang #2 inter-era hard fork. The Chang upgrade #2 introduces full on-chain governance, as outlined in CIP-1694, effectively concluding the current phase of bootstrap governance which began with the Chang upgrade #1 hard fork on September 1st.

“In October, the ‘Using Plutus TX’ section of our user guide got an update as well, and we submitted two proposals (CIPs) for built-in arrays and maps. We reached a significant milestone for scalability with the release of Mithril distribution 2442.0, which offers dependable assistance for managing signatures in both signer and aggregator roles, decentralized.

Other development highlights

In the journey towards decentralized management, Cardano’s community organization, Intersect, recently conducted its inaugural election for seven committees and the Intersect board. Out of a pool of 140 applicants, two board members and 29 committee members were selected for these positions. A second round of elections is scheduled for April 2025.

In October, Project Catalyst experienced significant advancements as Catalyst Fund13 moved forward to the community evaluation phase. Additionally, Catalyst is approaching a notable achievement by finalizing approximately 1,000 projects.

At the significant gathering known as the Cardano Summit in Buenos Aires, Argentina, the Cardano community found a crucial platform, with IOG’s Educational team taking an active role.
