Nioh 3 is already locked in as my favorite Soulslike of 2026, feeling like Team Ninja’s response to Elden Ring with its open exploration and intense yokai clashes

Team Ninja calls this style of gameplay “masocore.” It’s a departure from the fast-paced, over-the-top action of Ninja Gaiden 4, favoring a slightly more deliberate and strategic approach—though it’s still incredibly fast-paced. Nioh 3, in particular, features incredibly refined combat. You can seamlessly switch weapons during combos and instantly change between playing as a samurai or a ninja. Battles are intense, quick trades of attacks and blocks, ultimately reducing demonic enemies to dust.
Where Winds Meet New Update 1.017 Released on January 16

We’re not sure if the PC version received an update, but we confirmed a recent update with several fixes was released for the platform a few days ago.
Monster Hunter Wilds Players Have a Theory About Its Performance Issues

The newest Monster Hunter game, Monster Hunter Wilds, is a bit of a puzzle. Despite receiving good reviews – an 88 on Metacritic – many fans were disappointed, and it didn’t sell as well as Capcom hoped, even though it was their fastest-selling game initially. The main issue seems to be that people enjoy the game itself, but it hasn’t been running smoothly. Capcom has released several updates to fix these problems, and a recent discovery suggests the root cause might have been overlooked.
Monster Hunter Wilds Is Still a Mess Months After Launch, and Players Are Furious

Monster Hunter Wilds was intended to be a groundbreaking title, setting the standard for future monster hunting games. However, after its release, it’s become a disappointing example of current AAA game development. While updates have been added, they haven’t fixed the ongoing performance problems, and players are growing increasingly frustrated. This is especially disheartening for dedicated fans, as it feels like a core Monster Hunter game that has lost its way.
15 Years Later, The Most Popular Open-World RPG Ever Made Has Been Released At Least Five Times

Many gamers remember that 2011 wasn’t the last time Skyrim appeared in stores. Over the years after its release, Bethesda re-released the popular fantasy RPG multiple times, usually with new features or improvements. However, these were always fundamentally the same Skyrim game. This constant re-releasing eventually became a running joke, with fans confused by Bethesda’s continued focus on Skyrim, especially when it seemed to be slowing down work on other games.

The PlayStation 5 version of Avowed, along with a special anniversary update, was revealed at the first New Game Plus Showcase. No Law sounds like Cyberpunk 2077 meets Atomfall, and its “opt in” narrative already has my attention: “If 100 players play the game, there should be 100 different user stories”

We’re really good at this kind of thing,” Berg explains, pointing to their experience with games like Wolfenstein and Gears of War. “We’re aiming to be more creative and try new things beyond just first-person shooters, and it’s important to us that the violence in this game is enjoyable—something players can have fun with and even laugh at. We’re not trying to make something grim or serious; that’s just not our style or how we approach storytelling.”
