I remember when Tatsuki Fujimoto finished Chainsaw Man in March 2026. It really ended its run as one of the biggest manga successes ever. Characters like Denji, Makima, Power, and Aki are ones people will be talking about for years, especially with the anime still having a lot of story to cover. From what I’ve heard, Season 2 is already being worked on, and it’s going to bring a bunch of popular characters from the manga to life.
I’m so hyped for more Chainsaw Man! While we wait for the next part of the anime, I’ve been revisiting all the awesome characters we’ve already met. I figured it’d be fun to compile a little refresher on things like their ages, heights, and birthdays. We know their stories so far, but I have a feeling their full impact won’t be felt until the entire adaptation is finished!
Tatsuki Fujimoto seems to prioritize storytelling, character development, and emotional depth. Denji
A Man Down On His Luck Who Becomes The Chainsaw Devil

At the start of Chainsaw Man, Denji is a poor teenager who does whatever it takes to survive. He works as a devil hunter with his dog, Pochita, and struggles with debt left by his father, even resorting to selling his own organs. Everything changes when Pochita sacrifices himself to save Denji, giving him a chance at a normal life.
After this, he becomes known as ‘Chainsaw Man’ and is immediately recruited by the Public Safety Bureau. Fans of the manga will remember that a key event happens on Denji’s birthday at the end of the first part. Denji is what truly makes Chainsaw Man stand out from other action stories; he’s a very different kind of hero compared to characters like Luffy or Naruto. While those heroes are iconic, Denji feels more down-to-earth. His motivations aren’t about justice or grand ideals – he just wants to enjoy simple pleasures that he’s always been denied.
Pochita

Pochita initially appears as an adorable puppy, but after fusing with Denji, he’s rarely seen again. Even so, he’s incredibly important to the story of Chainsaw Man. Because Denji treated him with kindness and affection, Pochita chooses to merge with Denji when he’s dying, forming a contract that will ultimately help Denji achieve his wish for a normal life.
When he’s a dog, he’s small to medium-sized and surprisingly light – almost like he could be used as a chainsaw! Pochita is essentially the lovable face of Chainsaw Man, and he’s a surprisingly complex character. He’s completely loyal to Denji, and unlike most Devils, he doesn’t seem interested in exploiting his human partner.
Makima
The Control Devil Who Manipulates The People Around Her

Makima is a compelling but mysterious character. She’s a devil hunter who brings Denji into the Public Safety Bureau and offers him a better life. However, anime viewers will likely find her actions and intentions questionable, as she often seems controlling and speaks her mind without hesitation.
Makima, a hybrid with the Control Devil, is surprisingly one of the most frightening characters in Chainsaw Man, both in the manga and the anime. She quickly figures out what Denji is vulnerable to and expertly manipulates him, seeing him as just a means to an end. Many consider her the most memorable character in the series.
Power
A Devil Who Forms A Bond With A Cat And Slowly Warms Up To Other Humans

Power is a devil hunter working with the Public Safety Bureau, and she’s a hugely popular character. She’s selfish, driven by what she wants, and acts very immaturely. Despite this, she’s a remarkably strong devil who loves fighting and demonstrating her abilities. Her combination of flaws and power is what makes her so entertaining to watch.
Despite being very self-centered, she deeply cares for her cat, Meowy. She originally intended to raise Meowy as food, but grew attached and now sees her as a lifelong friend. This connection with Meowy seems to help her become more open to people, and she develops strong bonds with Aki and Denji, even sacrificing herself for Denji at the end of the first part.
Aki Hayakawa
A Fascinating Character With A Stoic Personality And A Tragic Backstory

Aki and Denji don’t initially get along, with their very different personalities causing friction. However, despite this, they eventually become good friends. Aki is a fan favorite thanks to his quiet strength and the intriguing hints about his background revealed in the manga and anime. He’s incredibly popular – in a recent poll, he even beat out the main character to take first place!

Sadly, due to a deal she made with the Ghost Devil, she makes a heartbreaking sacrifice to save Aki from a dangerous fate, ultimately giving up her own existence.

He made a terrifying deal with the Fox Devil: in exchange for its help, he had to sacrifice parts of his own body. This gruesome agreement is typical of the dark and dangerous world of Chainsaw Man.

Throughout the first season of the anime, Kishibe doesn’t appear until near the end, with a proper introduction in episode 10. He then becomes quite involved in the storyline surrounding the Katana Man. If the anime continues with future seasons, Kishibe is expected to have an even bigger role.
Kishibe, captain of Tokyo’s Special Division 4, is a remarkably skilled and experienced devil hunter. Years of fighting devils have made him calm and seen-it-all, though he doesn’t boast or appear overly aggressive. However, in battle, he’s incredibly dangerous and ruthless. He doesn’t underestimate opponents and is a surprisingly honest character, preferring directness over deception.
