Although the little girl may initially come off as pesky, it’s worth getting to know her more deeply because she has the potential to become incredibly valuable.

In a different context, plants are rarely associated with the boundless, dark expanse of space. The void is harsh, and life as we know it doesn’t typically thrive there. Therefore, when you encounter Aki, the overseer of Greenbelt, you can tell she’s extraordinary.

Apart from nurturing and expanding the Greenbelt, Aki and her community have also established a society that ensures everyone reaps the rewards of their collective efforts.

At first encounter with Aki, the situation seems quite challenging. Yet, showing some kindness and exerting minimal effort can significantly aid her and the Greenbelt in their pursuit of self-rule – something they’ve long yearned for. This positive change, in turn, makes the harsh expanse of space feel a touch more inviting.

8. Kirk

Lotic Revolutionary

Exploring the influence of multiple risky conglomerates in Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector is often tricky, as it’s hard to discern genuine allegiances among individuals. Kirk serves as an excellent illustration of this ambiguity.

Initially, he appears as just another piece in the machine of the Lotic Syndicate. However, upon closer inspection, it becomes clear that he nurtures radical thoughts and has the resources to put them into action – if given the right encouragement.

Initially, Femi comes across as rather abrupt and domineering. He displays an angry demeanor when you attempt to collaborate with his sister, Nia. Consequently, following our initial encounter, I chose to avoid engaging with him for some time.

It wasn’t until our next encounter that everything about him became clear. He turned out to be a typical older brother, deeply caring for his little sister. He would go to great lengths and even compromise relationships for the sake of protecting her.

After reaching a mutual understanding, I found Femi to be much more admirable. Particularly when he apologized sincerely to Nia for his grumpy behavior.

6. Kadet

Fierce Courier

From our very first encounter, Kadet instantly won me over. A near-accident didn’t faze her – instead, she fiercely reprimanded the offender. Despite being merely a courier, she’s an exceptional ally to have by your side.

Bringing Kadet onto your team takes some patience due to her need to lay low temporarily. However, when she finally comes aboard, she demonstrates her worth as a reliable crew member.

Just don’t ever expect her to do anything other than speak her mind, and you won’t be disappointed.

5. The Stray

Much Better Than a Tribble

As a self-proclaimed cat enthusiast, keeping this next character from taking the top spot required great effort. Considering they can’t talk, however, I decided it was more appropriate to place The Stray further down on my list.

During the course of the game, it becomes apparent that someone or something is depleting your resources. Serafin advocates for a decisive solution to the issue, while Bliss advises caution. I chose a balanced approach and ended up gaining a new cat companion as part of my team.

This quiet Stray is incredibly skilled at navigating weightlessness, so make sure she has enough food. In return, you’ll have a sweet and thoughtful ball of fur for companionship. Although she may not join in space expeditions, every creature deserves emotional comfort.

4. Nia

Tough Little Sister

From first glance, Nia exudes an infectious joy. Her eyes sparkle with optimism, she works diligently, and there’s something genuinely captivating about her. However, securing approval from her older brother Femi is a hurdle in allowing her to assist with the task at hand.

As a gamer, let me tell you, it took me some time to realize what was obvious from the start: Nia is an unstoppable force. Her tenacity is second to none, and she fearlessly tackles every obstacle that comes her way, no matter how dangerous the mission may be.

What stands out most is that she remains compassionate as a loving sibling. One scene I particularly enjoyed in Citizen Sleeper 2 was when she gave Femi a dose of tough love, helping him ultimately understand her abilities.

3. Yu-Jin

The Gambler

Yu-Jin typically comes across as someone who’s prepared for any situation, exuding confidence, boldness, and a hint of overconfidence. However, it’s quite unexpected when his grand schemes begin to unravel.

I find myself reluctant to reveal any signs of vulnerability, and this fear extends even to fictional scenarios. In fact, there’s a possible plotline where my strategies lead to an unexpected end, highlighting the consequences of such unwillingness to expose weakness.

I managed to steer clear of that predicament with mere luck, and after that, Yu-Jin began to admit his mistakes and develop personally.

Over time, I grew to really appreciate Yu-Jin, despite the fact that he’s quite daring and tends to be boastful.

2. Serafin

The Love Interest

For Fin, life isn’t simple. He’s deeply in love with a robotic being known as a Sleeper, but unfortunately, you don’t recognize him. This memory loss is due to the primary antagonist in the game, making his bond with you even more challenging.

Regardless of his seemingly unemotional demeanor, Serafin is a loyal friend, reliable ally, and exceptional pilot. Beneath this stoic exterior lies a depth of feeling that becomes evident in one quest line, where he is seen struggling to reconnect with his long-lost sister, demonstrating his deep emotions.

Above all, it brings great pleasure to observe how the barriers Fin has built around his heart are gradually breaking down and disintegrating. This demonstrates that he is not merely a stern pilot, but also someone who is kind-hearted and compassionate.

1. Laine

The Bad Guy

It could appear unusual to find the principal antagonist of Citizen Sleeper 2 at the forefront of this list, particularly in the number one position. However, it’s crucial to remember that stories often lose their appeal without tension. A compelling villain not only keeps things intriguing but adds an extra layer of interest, and this certainly applies to Laine.

Laine is cunning, heartless, and unfortunately detrimental to society. Yet, he boasts remarkable intelligence. He views the Sleeper as a tool for achieving his goals, and he’s willing to go to great lengths to make it happen. This may involve depriving your soul from within your artificial form.

Regardless of how far you journey within the Starward Belt, Laine will persistently follow close behind. It’s almost impossible to extricate him from your thoughts and truly put him to rest, a feat that might require something approaching a miracle. This stubborn persistence of his is crucial to the narrative that Citizen Sleeper 2 aims to unfold.
