Coinbase SOL Updates:- So, Coinbase is *finally* doing something about Solana. Good news for crypto users, I guess. Though, let’s be honest, they were probably forced to after that January debacle. š
These updates are particularly soothing? More like essential after everyone’s transactions were basically held hostage during January. Remember that? Good times. Not. š
While announcing the upgrades, the exchange said that it has been working very hard. “Very hard.” Right. Like cramming for an exam the night before. š“
Notably, Solanaās memecoin trading-driven surge has pushed the exchangeās Solana stack to ten times higher than its actual throughout. Memecoins, eh? The true sign of a healthy economy. š
What are the new Upgrades in Coinbase Solana Infra?
In early 2025, Coinbase users took to social media to vent our their frustration. Social media: the modern therapy couch. Except way more public and filled with trolls. š£ļø
A user had reportedly said that two transactions from a Solana wallet to coinbase took him more 10 hrs ā to get completed. Ten hours? I’ve waited less time for a root canal. š¬
Now in order to solve this, Coinbase as part of its new updates has shifted to asynchronous transaction handling. Asynchronous? Sounds fancy. Probably just means they’re doing what they should have been doing all along. š¤
This means that its systems can now process transactions blocks in parallel. Previously, transaction blocks were processed sequentially, which created bottlenecks under heavy load. Bottlenecks. The bane of modern existence. Like trying to get a coffee before work. ā
According to the largest US exchangeās X post, this will improve its block processing throughput by 5 times. Five times faster? Still probably slower than my internet on a rainy day. ā
This change alone is expected to slash wait times for transaction confirmations. This means that highāvolume periods will no longer compromise user experience or liquidity flows. “No longer compromise”? Famous last words. Let’s see if they can actually deliver.š¤
Hey @coinbase and @CoinbaseSupport
34 hours this is the most ridiculous thing Iāve ever seen by you guys, Iām starting to get pretty mad .
Release the money by the morning or next Iāll be contacting a lawyer

Coinbase Shifts to BareāMetal Machines and Enhance liquidity
In addition to software tweaks, Coinbase has migrated critical components of its Solana stack onto dedicated bareāmetal servers rather than virtualized cloud instances. Bare-metal? Sounds a bit aggressive, doesn’t it? š¦¹
Virtual machines (VMs) run on top of something called a hypervisor, which is like a middleman between the software and the actual computer. This middleman uses up some of the computerās power (CPU and memory), which can slow things down.
But the newly adopted bare-metal servers skip that middleman. According to IBM, they let the software run directly on the hardware, so Coinbaseās systems can use 100% of the serverās power. So, less middleman. Always a win. Unless you’re a middleman, I guess. š¤·

Further, Coinbase has also deployed backāend optimizations to ensure better distribution of SOL liquidity across its order books and custody wallets. Its enhanced monitoring tools would now track onāchain and offāchain liquidity metrics. Liquidity. Sounds refreshing. Like a gin and tonic on a Friday night. šø
These āoperational changesā would give Coinbaseās operations team finerāgrained oversight to prevent order execution delays and maintain deep, frictionless liquidity for Solana assets. “Frictionless liquidity.” That’s the dream, isn’t it? For crypto and… well, other things. š
Further, these updates to the exchangeās Solana ecosystem come as Canada approves and launches first Spot Solana ETFs this week. Canada’s getting in on the action. Maple syrup-flavored crypto, anyone? š
Upgrade for Transaction Failures
To bolster resilience, the exchange has also introduced advanced failover augmentations. This will automatically reroute traffic in the event of node failures or network congestion. Because nobody likes a failure. Except maybe a spectacular one on reality TV. šŗ
The upgrade implements multiāregion redundancy and healthācheck protocols that detect performance degradation in real time. Redundancy. Because you can never be too careful. Like wearing two pairs of socks in winter. š§¦
If a node underperforms or becomes unresponsive, traffic would immediately shifts to healthy nodes without manual intervention. This will help in guarding users against partial outages or cascading failures that have previously led to stalled transactions. Basically, they’re trying to stop the whole thing from collapsing like a soufflĆ©. š
Bullish Market Reaction
News of the Coinbase Solana infrastructure improvements has already created ripple effects across the Solana markets. Ripple effects. Like dropping a stone in a very small, very expensive pond. šļø
As of writing, SOLās price has climbed by 6% to its highest level in April ā trading around $136 ā today. This has ended up outperforming many top cryptocurrencies ā XRP, BTC, ETH ā as investors viewed the upgrades as a bullish signal for onāchain activity and exchange confidence. 6%? Don’t spend it all in one place. Unless you’re buying a yacht. Then, by all means, splurge. š„ļø
Notably, SOL Price is also driven by the Solana ETF approval in Canada.
The upgrades become all the more important as Solanaās onāchain trading continues to grow.
Particularly driven by the memecoin trading volume, its current state stands at over $15 billion in DEX transactions during the past seven days alone. Surprisingly, this has surpassed every other chain in this time frame. $15 billion in memecoins. I need a lie down. š“
