So, I found out if you want to refight any of the tough bosses in Crimson Desert, you gotta hunt down these things called Memory Fragments in their boss arenas. Seriously, almost every boss can be re-challenged this way! The game even marks them on your map, which is super helpful. It’s not the most exciting thing in the world, honestly, but it’s a really good way to practice fighting and see how much better I’ve gotten at taking down those big, scary bosses.
How to Fight Bosses Again in Crimson Desert
Okay, so if I want to refight a boss in Crimson Desert, I just pull up my map and look for those little star icons – they mark where I fought the bosses before. Then I head to that spot, raise my lantern, and scan around for a Memory Fragment. Once I find it, I just shine my lantern on it, and a window should pop up letting me replay the fight.
You can also find boss information in your Journal’s Knowledge section, under Bosses. This will show you a complete list of all bosses and let you see exactly where they are on the map – a helpful feature if you’re having trouble locating one. Keep in mind that not all bosses can be rematched.
Reminisce or Resonate?
When the boss rematch window pops up, you’ll get two choices:
- Reminisce will let you fight bosses exactly as they were back when you first fought them.
- Resonate will scale the boss’ stats up to match your current level, making them stronger in terms of both health and damage. This only works if the boss you’re fighting is weaker than you are at your current level.
I tested this by fighting Matthias, and it looks like the only difference between Reminisce and Resonate modes is how strong enemies are. If you want more challenging battles, switch the game to Hard mode. This will make the difference in stats between you and bosses even bigger, and they’ll also gain new attacks and become more aggressive.
A great feature in Crimson Desert is that you get all your used resources back after a boss rematch. This means you can use food and other items freely during the fight without worrying about having to restock them afterward.
Crimson Desert Boss Rematch Rewards
Currently, defeating bosses again won’t earn you any rewards. The boss rematch feature is now mainly for players to track their progress – seeing how much better their equipment and skills have become. It’s also a great way to practice! If you’re tired of hitting the training dummy, bosses like Matthias or the Reapers in Demeniss offer a more challenging and useful practice experience.
A great feature is the ability to refight bosses using any of the three characters, including Kliff. This means you can challenge bosses like General Bastier and Injured Ludvig as Kliff, too.
