A player exploring the upcoming game Crimson Desert has discovered a fully built town outside the normally accessible areas. Using the game’s Photo Mode, they ventured beyond the map’s boundaries and found what appears to be a complete, playable town, suggesting potential future content may already be hidden within the game.
Crimson Desert is already a major gaming success this year. Since launching on March 19th, the open-world RPG has sold millions of copies and gained a large following. Even South Korea’s Prime Minister, Kim Min-seok, commended the game for boosting the country’s reputation in the global gaming industry. Remarkably, Crimson Desert continues to attract a large number of players, which is unusual for single-player games that often see a decline in players after the initial release.
Crimson Desert Out of Bounds Village Could Hint at Future Content
A Reddit user named RazielOfBoletaria discovered a fully built, but currently inaccessible, town outside the playable area of Crimson Desert. They used a special mount to fly beyond the map’s edge, north of Pailune and Silver Wolf Mountain, and found the town about two and a half minutes away from the boundary. While players can’t explore the town for very long due to a timer, they were able to get a closer look using Photo Mode and noticed it’s nearly complete, even including a notice board that doesn’t yet function.
So, everyone in the discussion immediately started wondering about this hidden town and if it might show up in the game later. Honestly, I think there are two likely scenarios. One, it could be stuff they cut from the game during development – maybe they just decided it didn’t fit. If that’s the case, Pearl Abyss could come back to it someday, but I wouldn’t hold my breath. The other idea is that it hints at a future map expansion for Crimson Desert. The map is already huge, but an expansion would be awesome and add a ton more to explore. Right now, we have no clue why this town is hidden, but it’s definitely got me thinking about what they might have planned!
Someone mentioned that using mods in Crimson Desert lets players access areas outside the normal map boundaries without a timer, opening up the entire abandoned town for exploration. Since RazielOfBoletaria has only explored the town fully using Photo Mode, it would be great to see if they can discover anything new by playing as Kliff and freely roaming the area.

Given the developer’s consistent updates, it’s likely that Crimson Desert will receive map expansions in the future. The latest update introduced replayable endgame content, letting players fight bosses again and refresh enemy areas for more combat challenges as they play. Pearl Abyss clearly intends to support Crimson Desert for a long time, and we can hope that future updates will continue to improve the game for players.
