Today, it was officially announced that soccer star Ronaldo is set to join the cast of “Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves.” This exciting news was shared with his 115.1 million followers on social media platform X (the third largest following). In addition, he also posted the trailer for the game on his Instagram account, where he boasts an astounding 651 million followers – more than any other user in the world. A well-known figure in both sports and social media is set to join a highly respected and adored fighting game series. The first Fatal Fury: King of Fighters was launched in 1991, developed by Takashi Nishiyama, the brainchild behind the original Street Fighter. This franchise saw tremendous success during the 1990s, but no new game has been released since Mark of the Wolves came out in 1999, although various titles have been re-released more recently.

The initial news about a new Fatal Fury game after more than two decades surfaced at EVO 2022, during the world’s largest fighting tournament competition. Characters from Street Fighter like Ken Masters and Chun-Li are set to be included in the game as part of the first season of add-ons. The connection between Ronaldo and Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves was hinted at back in September, when he shared a teaser that suggested “A legendary player joins a legendary game.” Additionally, Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves is one of several games scheduled to be showcased at the Esports World Cup in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia this summer; Ronaldo currently plays for Al Nassr in the Saudi Pro League.
