- So Cipher decided to buddy up for a decade-literally-signing a 10-year HPC hosting contract with Fluidstack that includes a shiny new 56 MW at Barber Lake. Because who doesn’t want more MWs? Now Fluidstack’s lease is totally full-blown at 300 MW-because apparently, that’s the new bedtime story for crypto nerds.
- Google, in its infinite wisdom, threw an extra $333 million into guaranteeing Fluidstack’s obligations. The project costs a mere $9-10 million per MW-pocket change, really. Always good to have Daddy Google watching out. 💸
- And let’s not forget-thanks to Nvidia having a monster earnings beat (who saw that coming?) and guiding us all into new financial unfathomability, Cipher’s shares sprouted wings and soared 13%. Yeah, that’s about as impressive as your friend’s latest Instagram vacation, but hey, it’s real money, not hashtags.
This latest sweetheart deal from Cipher is worth about $830 million in initial revenue-think of it as getting a hefty paycheck just for playing in the tech sandbox. Plus, this fabulous expansion could, with sweet talk and optional extensions, swell to a whopping $2 billion or even a billion-and-a-half more if they’re feeling extra generous.
With a new 39 MW of critical IT power (because all that crypto needs a lot of juice) and Google backing Fluidstack with a cool $333 million, Cipher plans to fund their Netflix-level buildout with debt and about $118 million from their own secret stash. The projections look so good, they practically glow: 85-90% net operating income margin, and project costs of only $9-10 million per MW. Who knew that crypto computes could be so charming?
This expansion is basically Cipher flexing its muscles in high performance computing land, riding the wave of its gigantic 3.2 GW pipeline-because why not be the king of the crypto hill?
Shares? Already hot after Nvidia’s belligerent earnings performance, they didn’t just stop there. No, they shot up another 3%, turning heads faster than a cat on a laser pointer. Everything’s coming up crypto, folks! 🚀💥
