If you’ve previously experienced Day Gone, the remastered version will introduce fresh gameplay modes that may challenge your skills in the zombie survival genre.

Days Gone Remastered’s New Modes Might Make Players Asses Their Anger

As a fan who can’t get enough of the undead, I’m thrilled to delve into the latest game feature known as “Horde Assault.” This isn’t just any ordinary mode; it’s the survival arcade side of the game where you face off against relentless zombie hordes. If the idea of annihilating massive undead groups tickles your fancy, then this mode is tailor-made for you!

Kevin McAllister, the Creative and Product Lead at Bend Studio, shared some insight into the project. They’ve taken what they had in the story mode, amplified it, and evolved the concept by tackling the challenges that arose post-launch.

In Horde Assault, players can expect vast, open areas filled with waves of enemies approaching from various directions. These enemy groups, or hordes, may appear in unexpected spots compared to their placement in the main storyline, offering a touch of surprise. Additionally, familiar locations will host larger swarms of these hordes, increasing the challenge for players.

McAllister remarks, “Horde Assault offers you an array of resources from the get-go, making it accessible for beginners to dive in immediately. This mode showcases the core, open-world gameplay of Days Gone, but with a fully upgraded motorcycle at your side and additional weapons. You’ll also encounter both human adversaries and various types of evolved Freakers such as breakers, reachers, and screamers. The experience is more chaotic, yet it truly represents the essence of Days Gone gameplay. I believe fans will find this mode exciting and enjoyable.

The revamped version of the game introduces a fresh playstyle option known as Time Trial mode, where the name itself gives a hint about its purpose. Players attempting this mode can select from various levels of difficulty. Additionally, there’s a timer displayed on-screen that conveniently pauses during cinematics. Every time you complete the game, your time is saved alongside the difficulty level you were playing at. Upon finishing the Time Trial, you’ll receive a visual representation highlighting your performance statistics.

Lastly, I must say, the most challenging among the trio is the Permadeath setting. Just as its title suggests, when my character meets their end in this mode, it’s game over for good. No respawning, no saved data to fall back on, no checkpoints – nothing. It’s a test of true grit and determination.

According to McAllister, the introduction of “Permadeath mode” was a result of community suggestions and something they had wanted since 2019. This seemed like an ideal moment to incorporate it. Players have been showcasing their skills by attempting to complete runs without taking any damage at all, using only the weak boot knife. In essence, the ultimate challenge is to survive without dying. McAllister believes that players will enjoy this new survival experience.

Despite possibly not being a top pick among remastered games, Days Gone Remastered could be an unexpectedly desired title in your gaming collection.

On April 25th, Days Gone Remastered makes its debut on both PlayStation 5 and PC platforms, promising an enhanced experience that will surely delight followers of the game, with the newly unveiled graphic and performance options to boot.

The most recent undertaking from Bend Studio is Days Gone Remastered, following Sony’s decision to cancel their long-term live-service game project.
