Summary

  • Deadside’s Console Mega Patch 1.3 adds new base-building tiers, armor changes, and quality-of-life upgrades.

  • Quality-of-life improvements include storing backpacks within other backpacks, shooting target, and UI fixes.

Starting on March 17, Deadside players can download a massive new update packed with new features and fixes. The hardcore multiplayer survival shooter fully launched in 2024 to mostly positive praise from fans and critics. Known for its vast post-apocalyptic open world and realistic gunplay blended with survival mechanics, Deadside has carved out a dedicated fanbase. While it may not be as widely popular as genre heavyweights like Rust and DayZ, its tactical gameplay and immersive atmosphere continue to attract plenty of loyal players.

Developed by indie studio Bad Pixel, Deadside spent four years in early access. While that may seem like a long time, it’s not unheard of, especially for survival and indie games like 7 Days to Die, which remained in early access for over a decade. Deadside officially left early access late last year and has since received multiple updates and patches, including the latest March update.

As recently announced on the official Deadside site, the massive Console Mega Patch 1.3 is now live. Released on March 17, the update aims to bring the console versions up to par with the PC edition. It also introduces several new features and improvements, including Assault Ladders, additional base-building tiers, armor adjustments, and various quality-of-life upgrades. Additionally, the patch aims to fix numerous bugs affecting gameplay.

The new update introduces two additional levels of base-building: Log and Concrete, increasing the number of base development stages to five. The Log level is the second tier, followed by the ultimate and most robust Concrete tier. Building bases is essential in Deadside, as it provides a safe haven from the turmoil outside. To facilitate the construction of concrete bases, the update also includes cement, concrete mix, and bricks as new crafting components.

On top of expanded building options, the update introduces significant armor changes, including rebalancing armor to improve survivability and adding bone protection for more consistent damage mitigation. Deadside features a wide range of armor, including the Heavy Assault Helmet, which shields both the face and head, and the Heavy Assault Vest, which provides 50% damage reduction. Armor is crucial in the game, serving as a player’s last line of defense against bullets and melee attacks.

The latest update also brings a major change to backpacks, a crucial tool for carrying weapons, ammo, and supplies. Players can now store backpacks inside other backpacks, allowing for greater inventory capacity and improved organization. Deadside offers a variety of backpacks, from the large Stalker to the simple Improvised. With the update now live, players can explore the remnants of a dead civilization with new features and gameplay enhancements.

Deadside Console 1.3 Patch Notes

Random/important fixes:

  • The server remembers your codelock password
  • Water bases no longer possible to build, if you have a water base you may as well abandon it. There was an exploit with water placed foundations that made raiding impossible which is now fixed.
  • This update adds building block to areas players were troll building on, like bridges. The bases there haven’t wiped, but you will no longer be able to build in them.
  • Team invite issues fixed
  • Your base will now have different HP. If it was made out of branches, you need to upgrade asap – for that you need wood and rope now. Rope is super valuable, so when killing bots, tear up their clothing into rags and make rope out of it.

Added Assault Ladders

You can now climb up to enemy bases using Assault Ladders. These are useful for top down raiding and countering roof campers. Base owners: secure your roofs.

Console-specific ladder fixes:

  • Fixed character movement offset when exiting assault ladders.
  • Ensures smoother transitions when climbing off ladders.

Triangle Foundations!

  • New triangular building elements added to the construction system.
  • Allows for more creative and efficient base designs.

2 More Base Building Tiers

  • Added Log and Concrete base tiers. The Branch tier is now very weak, so people don’t Fortnite their way around PVP. You need to rush to upgrade it to Logs asap, using rope as a secondary resource.
  • Base tier progression: Branch → Log → Plank → Metal → Concrete.
  • New concrete mixer module added to base-building mechanics.
  • Cement, concrete mix, and bricks introduced as crafting materials.

New Explosives

  • Reinforced Explosive Charge added as a powerful but expensive raiding tool.
  • Duct Tape now required for crafting standard explosive charges.
  • General rebalance of explosive drop rates and crafting costs.

Gameplay Mechanics Adjustments

  • Reduced player sway while stationary to improve aiming.
  • Removed camera shake when using an axe or knife.
  • Improved stability of ladders and character movement when climbing.

Combat & Armor Changes

  • Armor now protects all bones for more consistent damage mitigation.
  • Damage against armor rebalanced to improve survivability

Quality of Life Improvements

  • Backpacks can now be stored within other backpacks to optimize inventory management.
  • Added a shooting target for training and recreational shooting.

Trader & Economy Adjustments

  • Nails removed from trader inventory to encourage scavenging.
  • Price adjustments:
  • Blow Torches and Duct Tape now cost 6,500 currency.
  • Vehicle locks reduced to 100 currency.

Environmental & Map Updates

  • Building restrictions applied to bridges to prevent exploitative constructions.
  • New spawn area changes: AI-controlled enemies now spawn with double-barreled shotguns in player respawn zones.
