So, they’re launching this USDT0 thing on Optimism’s Superchain.
Great. Just what we needed, another coin.
As if things weren’t confusing enough already.
This expansion, revealed on Thursday, will extend USDT0’s presence to the OP Mainnet, with additional launches planned for the near future.

Apparently, by integrating USDT0 into the Superchain, Tether thinks they’re
going to leverage this “growing distribution network” of Ethereum scaling
solutions. Superchain. What is this, a kids’ cartoon? It’s a “network of
networks,” or so they say. Using the OP technical launchpad to share
security, standards, and incentives. Incentives? Sounds like a bribe to me.
It currently accounts for nearly half of all Ethereum Layer 2 transactions
and is widely adopted by companies like Coinbase, Kraken, Uniswap, Zora, and
even major corporations like Sony. Sony? What do they need with crypto?! 🤦‍♂️

Enhancing DeFi Growth with Interoperability? More Like Inter-Problems!

Oh, this is supposed to enhance interoperability? Allowing assets like USDT0
to “seamlessly” move between OP Chains. Seamlessly? Nothing is ever
seamless. 1-block finality, zero slippage… yeah, right. And a unified
security model. That sounds like a recipe for disaster. This
interoperability is expected to drive growth in decentralized finance
(DeFi), where capital can flow freely, applications can scale efficiently,
and users can transact without barriers. Barriers are good! They keep the riff raff
out. This is all just going to make things more complicated and probably lead
to some kind of major meltdown. 💣

Omnichain Compatibility for USDT0? Sounds Like a Headache!

USDT0 is designed as an omnichain version of Tether’s USDT stablecoin,
with interblockchain compatibility at its core. Like Tether, USDT0 is fully
backed by cash and cash equivalents, ensuring stability and reliability as it
integrates into the growing ecosystem of Ethereum scaling solutions. “Fully backed”
they say. Sure, and I’m fully backed by the promise that my dry cleaner won’t lose my pants.
This is all just a house of cards, waiting to collapse. 🃏
