heads up: what follows may reveal plot points from Dragon Ball Daima’s Episode 19, titled “Betrayal,” which is currently available on Crunchyroll.
In the realm of Demons, the ancient Eternal Dragon has stirred from his centuries-long slumber in the game known as Dragon Ball Daima. After navigating a treacherous path through the Demon Realm, encountering Tamagami, sea creatures, titans, and an assortment of bizarrely powerful beings, our heroes have collected all three Dragon Balls. Following the incantation, the balls now hold the power to summon the dragon.
In an unexpected turn of events, it wasn’t Goku or any member of the Dragon Team who managed to conjure the Eternal Dragon. Instead, it was Glorio, acting upon instructions from Arinsu. Glorio’s act of betrayal has been building up since the very first episode of Dragon Ball Daima, “Conspiracy”, where he was seen lurking in the shadows of Gomah’s palace. The Supreme Kai had always been cautious around Glorio, frequently reminding Goku not to fully trust him. In preparation for this very moment, Glorio mastered the Namekian language and recited the incantation, which then summoned the original Porunga.
If you’ve managed to collect all the Dragon Balls… Step forward and share your desire. I will make it come true!” – Demon Realm Porunga.
“Having collected the Dragon Balls, step forth and voice your wish. I am here to grant any request of yours!” – Demon Realm Porunga.
Demon Realm Porunga
The Namekian Dragon’s Older Cousin
From my perspective, the ominous Demon Realm Porunga bears a striking resemblance to its counterpart from Dragon Ball Z’s Namek Saga. The key distinctions lie in its coloring – it’s a deep crimson with piercing yellow eyes and a striking blue border that demarcates its fiery scales from its beige underbelly. Compared to the standard Porunga, Demon Realm Porunga appears quite massive, dwarfing even Super Giant-Form Gomah who could only fill his hand with ease. Yet, it’s essential to keep in mind that the Eternal Dragons are known for their ability to alter their size at will.
The two Porungas differ not just in their looks, but also in their abilities. The demonic Porunga can grant a single wish when summoned, whereas the Namekian dragon bestows three wishes simultaneously. It’s not explicitly stated, but it seems plausible that the limitation on the Demon Realm’s Porunga could be due to the fact that they only have three Dragon Balls, making them easier to collect. However, this assumption might be misleading since the Tamagami were created later to prevent misuse of the Dragon Balls by evil entities. Prior to the creation of the Tamagami, it would have been relatively simple for a powerful character like the Supreme Demon King or others to gather just three Dragon Balls.
Demon Realm Porunga Can Defend Himself
A Dragon Fighting Back

In an awe-inspiring sequence designed to highlight Demon Realm Porunga’s immense power, I boldly approached him, determined to halt a wish from materializing. Alas, my valiant attempt against this formidable foe proved futile as Demon Realm Porunga merely flicked me away with the gentlest of gestures, sending me soaring effortlessly. It was an electrifying moment, but for those with keen eyes, it served as a nostalgic nod to how Regular Porunga casually makes the “OK” sign when granting wishes.
In the Dragon Ball episode 112 titled “King Piccolo’s Wish”, it’s not typical to witness an Eternal Dragon like Shenron engaging in combat, and even more unusual is Demon Realm Porunga’s ability to defend himself. Here, we see that when Demon King Piccolo unleashes a Mouth Energy Wave at Shenron after his wish, instead of deflecting the attack, Shenron was eliminated by it. It’s worth noting that the power level of Demon King Piccolo is significantly lower than King Gomah’s, leading one to speculate that perhaps there was some reason why Shenron couldn’t retaliate in this instance.
Is The Demon Realm’s Eternal Dragon Lore-Breaking?
Aren’t the Eternal Dragons Only Supposed to Be as Strong as Their Creator?

Some viewers might assume that since Demon Realm Porunga could effortlessly dismiss Third Eye Gomah like an insect, it would imply Neva has the same level of strength. However, this is a common misunderstanding about Eternal Dragons; they may share some abilities with their creators, but they are not equally powerful in every aspect. In fact, there are tasks that Eternal Dragons can perform which their makers cannot, such as resurrecting the deceased, granting eternal youth, or even producing articles of clothing like pants. Conversely, there are actions that Shenron could not accomplish alone, such as defeating Demon King Piccolo, despite Kami being asserted to be stronger than him.
As a fervent aficionado, I’d like to share my thoughts on the Eternal Dragons: Their physical prowess isn’t on par with their creators, but it’s their wish-granting ability that stems from them. These wishes don’t have the power to affect beings stronger than their creators, unless the creator grants them permission. To illustrate, you can’t ask Shenron for the demise of the Saiyans because Kami is weaker than them. This is why Goku was able to reject the wish to be transported back to Earth at the end of the Namek Saga.
Regarding the Eternal Dragons’ physical prowess, it remains unclear what factors might influence their strength. Could it be a matter of chance? Since they seldom face attacks, it could simply be that Demon Realm Porunga happens to be extremely strong while Shenron is not.
Dragon Ball Daima has been made available for streaming on Crunchyroll and Netflix. The air date for episode 20 of Dragon Ball Daima is scheduled for February 28, 2025, at 10:00 AM Pacific Time.
