Destiny 2 Guardian Games Are Back

Starting with the weekly reset, Destiny 2 is launching Guardian Games 2026, its yearly competition where Warlocks, Hunters, and Titans battle it out. Players will participate in special activities, collect medals, and earn exclusive rewards. Even with some questions about the future of Destiny 2, Bungie is sticking to its regular schedule and bringing back this popular event alongside other seasonal celebrations like Solstice, The Dawning, and Festival of the Lost.

Destiny 2 is currently facing some challenges. After finishing the long story arc focused on the Light and Darkness, Bungie tried to refresh the game last summer with ‘The Edge of Fate.’ However, many of the new features, like the Portal, didn’t satisfy players. Despite a positive reception to the December ‘Renegades’ expansion, the number of players continued to decline. While fans are hoping Bungie will share its plans for the game’s future, the studio has reintroduced the 2026 Guardian Games.

Destiny 2 Guardian Games Event Details

Guardian Games is like the Olympics in Destiny 2, where Hunters, Warlocks, and Titans compete for medals. The class with the most medals wins a trophy that’s displayed in The Tower for a year. This year’s event starts today, March 24th, and lasts for three weeks, ending on April 14th. Players will find it easier to track challenges and rewards because Guardian Games is now using the game’s Event Home feature, which keeps everything in one central location.

Guardian Games is offering a lot of rewards! Players can unlock a new shader, ship, emblem, Ghost Shell, and unique weapons through the event’s challenge track. You can also earn special weapons just by playing the Portal activities and earning medals. Here’s a look at what you can get:

  • Triple Laureate: Stasis spreadshot Hand Cannon
  • The Beacon: Solar rapid fire Fusion Rifle
  • Keraunios: Arc adaptive frame Trace Rifle

Beyond earning medals through Portal challenges, Bungie is reintroducing Rushdown, a popular activity that last appeared during the 2025 Guardian Games in Destiny 2. This time around, the boss order is completely randomized to keep things unpredictable. Players will still be able to experience the original Rushdown version alongside the new, randomized one thanks to daily boss rotations.

The Vanguard Orders system in Destiny 2 is being updated with new “Rare” challenges tied to the Guardian Games. Completing these challenges will give you 50 Bright Dust each, up to a weekly limit of 1000. After that, they’ll only award 10 Bright Dust. You can only have one Rare challenge active at a time, but a new one will become available as soon as you finish the current one. Players will likely be eager to complete these challenges, as some new items are coming to the game that require Bright Dust.

Bungie has introduced new, visually striking armor sets for each class in Destiny 2. You can find them in the Eververse store, available for either 6,000 Bright Dust or Silver, the game’s premium currency. They’ve also partnered with Wizards of the Coast to create armor inspired by Magic: The Gathering’s Planeswalkers, including sets based on Chandra Naalar (Flamecaller), Jace Beleren (Mindsculptur), and Liliana Vess (Death’s Majesty). Beyond the armor, players can also purchase other Magic: The Gathering-themed cosmetics, such as the Promised End Exotic Ghost Shell and the Grand Praetor Exotic Ship.
