Discover the Best Overwatch 2 Support Perks that Could Change Your Game!

Summary

  • Overwatch 2 introduced new hero perks in Season 15, changing gameplay dynamics significantly.
  • Support role perks like Ethical Nourishment for Moira and Morale Boost for Brigitte enhance their abilities.
  • Major perks like Shrike for Ana offer game-changing advantages, making Ana one of the best supports.

In the ongoing development of Overwatch 2, Blizzard is consistently introducing fresh modes and characters. However, a significant shift occurred during Season 15, as they introduced a new feature that shakes up the perk system for the first time. Each role – tank, DPS, and support – now has unique minor and major perks that alter the dynamics of each gameplay session, ranging from discouraging role swaps to fostering new team harmonies. Although every role possesses intriguing new perks, it’s the support role that can significantly impact the outcome of a match.

For support characters, these bonuses can enhance skills related to healing, positioning, and team assistance. A player can activate one minor and one major bonus in each battle, modifying the hero’s abilities depending on the nature of the conflict within the game. Although many support perks are effective, some truly outshine others.

10. Ascendance (Zenyatta)

Spreading Tranquility Through Elevation

Zenyatta’s ability, Ascendance, enables him to stay aloft for around 3 seconds when the player presses and holds the jump key. This added agility empowers Zenyatta to move more freely, allowing him to scout for advantageous flanking positions or secure better placement. It can also be utilized to evade pursuing enemies or, for the bold, to launch surprise attacks from unexpected locations where a Zenyatta would typically not be found.

While Ascendance doesn’t boost Zenyatta’s healing or damage output, its ability to reposition him effectively might be more impactful. A strategically placed Zenyatta can be significantly more potent in using Discord Orbs and Harmony Orbs without constantly needing cover. This minor adjustment has a substantial effect, enhancing Zenyatta’s role as a support character.

9. Headhunter (Ana)

Sharpshooting Sniper, Ana Can Finally Crit

Ana’s standout feature, called HeadHunter, allows her to inflict heavy damage when she lands headshots against opponents. Instead of primarily focusing on healing and utility, this trait transforms Ana into a formidable offensive character. With skilled handling, she becomes remarkably lethal, exceeding her already potent abilities. This heightened headshot damage elevates Ana as a DPS hero, placing her in the same category as heroes such as Widowmaker and Echo.

In Season 15, Ana’s major perks stand out as some of the game’s most potent, yet her headshot-dependent perk ranks lower compared to her other powerhouse perk that enhances both her damage and survivability. This is due to the fact that you need to land headshots to reap its benefits, unlike her other perk. Juno, on the other hand, boasts a similar ability, but given her playstyle and focus on high mobility, it’s generally more advantageous for her players to prioritize mobility-enhancing perks instead.

8. Sunburn (Illari)

Touch Her and Burn!

As a gamer, I’m all about the heat! My special move, Outburst, not only unleashes chaos around me but also lights up anyone unfortunate enough to be nearby with my SunBurn perk. This might sound like a minor advantage, but it significantly boosts my damage over time, transforming me into an assertive hybrid support. The best part? If my teammate Mauga’s on the scene, he can instantly crit any baddies I’ve torched, no need for him to ignite them first!

In essence, an outburst from Illari not only pushes her adversaries away but also gives her the time to boost her forthcoming attack and establish a healing pylon. This bonus feature empowers Illari to vanquish enemies with high mobility, such as Tracer or Genji, who might attempt to escape. Already recognized for her exceptional burst damage capabilities as a support character, Illari’s potential for inflicting even greater damage has been elevated further.

7. Morale Boost (Brigitte)

Inspire Lasts Longer, Even From Afar

Brigitte is quite a formidable support character to take down in the game. She’s capable of dishing out damage while simultaneously healing her nearby team members, which is a big reason why so many support players adore her. Her advantages perfectly align with her playstyle.

Brigitte’s minor advantage, Morale Boost, extends the length of time the Inspire passive skill remains active whenever it is triggered by Whip Shot. By elongating the effect of Inspire, Brigitte keeps her teammates prepared for battle without needing to take charge and risk being eliminated herself. This allows her to focus on other aspects of the fight such as crowd control and positioning, while also maintaining a consistent flow of healing.

6. Biotic Bounce (Ana)

Prepare For Trouble, Now Make It Double

The Biotic Bounce minor advantage boosts the performance of Ana’s Biotic Grenade specifically. This means that after detonating, the biotic grenade will rebound once and then explode a second time, inflicting extra damage and supplying additional healing. The subsequent explosion can be particularly effective in surprising enemies and piling on anti-heal effects on them.

Boosting the affected ally provides them a chance for recovery. This additional power also intensifies the challenges faced by enemy tank players, particularly struggling Roadhog. Biotic Bounce enhances Ana’s toolkit, further deepening the complexity of gameplay.

5. Ethical Nourishment (Moira)

Experiment Gone Right, Finally?

Moira’s standout advantage, Ethical Nourishment, enables her healing orbs to swiftly restore 50 HP to her allies as soon as they come into contact for the first time. Moira is a top-tier sustained multi-healer in the game. While she might not heal as quickly as Ana or Illari over a short period, she can simultaneously heal all her teammates, using both her healing orbs and primary fire.

In simpler terms, her significant advantage in a team setting significantly boosts her team’s performance during all team battles. This benefit is particularly potent in open queue or the recently reinstated 6v6 modes, as it allows her to quickly restore both her tank allies and provide an immediate edge to her team.

4. Chain Boost (Mercy)

Spreading Chaos & Support

With Chain Boost, Mercy can connect her alternate fire to another close-by teammate, thereby enhancing the damage output for two allies simultaneously. And when combined with two hitscan characters, it certainly feels overpowered!

For quite some time now, Sojourn and Ashe have stood out as top choices for Damage Per Second (DPS) heroes. With her abilities making Sojourn even more deadly than before, combined with Mercy’s damage amplification, she’s been racking up eliminations at an impressive pace. And since another teammate can now share the damage output, it seems like a certain win is just around the corner.

3. Cleansing Grasp (Lifeweaver)

Purifying the Chaos

Lifeweaver’s Life Grip is among the top free escape mechanisms in the game, providing peace of mind for both tank and DPS characters when it’s part of their team. However, one drawback to this skill (other than misusing it to tease teammates) is that if a team member was already affected negatively, they would still be under that negative effect once gripped.

Life Grip, previously known as Cleansing Grasp, now removes all detrimental effects from one teammate. Similar to Kiriko’s Protection Suzu, but focused on a single ally, this enhancement greatly boosts Lifeweaver’s versatility and usefulness. Rather than merely repositioning or rescuing the tank from poor positioning, it has become a life-saving ability. It effectively counters many harsh crowd-control strategies that were previously unmanageable. The advantage is, it’s a minor perk, allowing players to acquire it relatively early in a match.

2. Shuffling (Kiriko)

Teleportation Tango Fox

As a nimble gamer controlling Kiriko, I’ve got a handy trick up my sleeve: with one cast, Swift Step can be used twice within a span of four seconds, effectively doubling its charge for each use. This double-edged teleportation ability makes her unmatched among support characters when it comes to mobility. In the heat of battle, I can swiftly dash to a teammate in dire need, heal them on the spot, and then zip back to the safety of the rear lines.

Previously, I’ve had to be cautious when using Kiriko’s Swift Step ability, as it might occasionally place me in a precarious situation if I teleported to save a teammate. Determining when and where to move during a fight or evading enemy attacks is crucial, and this skill underscores why Kiriko stands out among the best support characters.

1. Shrike (Self-Nano) (Ana)

Unleash the Sleeper DPS

Shrike allows Ana to apply the Nano Boost ability on herself or any teammate she selects. Despite a minor adjustment in the hot fix update of March 2025, this skill is still considered the top pick in the game. Nano Boost enhances an ally’s damage output and reduces the amount of damage they take, but more importantly, it instantaneously heals them, which can determine the outcome of a battle.

As a gamer, I’ve got this nifty trick up my sleeve – Shrike (Self-Nano). It lets me dash from the backlines to the frontlines when needed for a brief period. In tight spots, like when someone’s flanking me, it can be a lifesaver, not just for me but possibly the entire battle as well. This perk truly shines for aggressive and skilled Ana players like myself.
