As an analyst with a background in cryptocurrency and a soft spot for heartwarming stories, I’m deeply saddened by the news of Kabosu’s passing. The Japanese Shiba Inu dog, who became the beloved face of Dogecoin in the crypto industry, has left us all too soon.
Tragically, Kabosu, the celebrated Japanese Shiba Inu dog known for inspiring the Dogecoin logo, passed away at 07:50 am today. At 18 years old, this remarkable canine gained fame through her unique facial expressions and seating poses featured in viral memes in 2013. Her image became synonymous with Dogecoin in the crypto world. Although it’s a mournful moment, Kabosu had been unwell for an extended period and is now at peace. Her family and the entire crypto community will cherish her memory.
Dogecoin Dog Farewell Date & Time
Atsuko Sato, the proprietor of the renowned Dogecoin Dog, shared the sad news of Kabosu’s demise with the public through a heartfelt blog entry. In this post, she described how Kabosu had been enduring a prolonged illness since 2022, battling both liver disease and leukemia.
In a tranquil manner, she breathed her last, appearing much like one peacefully sleeping, as I gently stroked her. I believe Kabo-chan was the epitome of happiness among all dogs, and I, in turn, felt immense joy as her owner, according to Sato.
This Sunday, 26th May 2024, in Narita City, Kabosu’s family is organizing a heartfelt farewell event in honor of their beloved Dogecoin Dog, Kabosu. The celebration will take place at Flower Kaori in Kotsu no Mori from 1 to 4 pm.
How did Dogecoin Dog Become famous?
As an analyst, I’d rephrase it this way: In 2008, I, Atsuko Sato, a teacher residing in Sakura, east of Tokyo, brought Kabosu into my home from a puppy mill at a young age. Two years later, I shared some photographs of Kabosu sitting casually on the sofa with her paws crossed online. These images quickly gained popularity and sparked a trend of creating humorous memes featuring broken English representations of Kabosu’s basic vocabulary and thoughts.
The meme featuring the image of Kabosu became extremely popular and spread rapidly, leading two software engineers to develop a meme currency called Dogecoin based on it. As a result, Kabosu gained international recognition and amassed a large following of thousands of fans worldwide. Notably, Dogecoin’s market value reached an impressive $23.8 billion. Moreover, the Kabosu meme transcended the crypto sphere and was transformed into a Non-Fungible Token (NFT), fetching a sale price of $4 million.
Elon Musk, Snoop Dogg, Gene Simmons of Kiss, and others have been advocates for Dogecoin for an extended period. In fact, Musk once switched his X logo with the Dogecoin logo. Additionally, the Own The Doge crypto organization made a significant gesture by presenting Ms. Sato with a $100,000 statue of Kabosu and her sofa as a tribute to the Dogecoin mascot.
The recognition gained by the Kabosu has brought about benefits for society, with Ms. Sato utilizing her newfound prominence to engage in numerous charitable endeavors throughout the years.
