Modifications encompass the addition of SPV Node functionality, a key aspect of PUPs. This change also brings installation enhancements that enable users to choose the install and data location within their disk partition and blockchain storage. The new SPV Node can now be tested through Dogebox, offering a lighter solution for carrying out DOGE transactions on devices with resource constraints.

The update also includes general improvements, such as miscellaneous bug fixes and enhancements.

What is Dogebox?

Dogebox serves as the decentralized, grassroots platform for the Dogecoin ecosystem, designed to be self-hosted. Essentially, it’s a specialized Linux server distribution along with custom software, tailored to cater to the unique requirements of the Dogecoin community.

Dogebox strives to establish a decentralized environment where software (referred to as PUPs) can be developed, shared, and independently hosted. This platform is designed to infuse practical applications into the Dogecoin community, thereby boosting its popularity and usage.

In a recent tweet, Dogecoin Foundation developer Timothy Stebbing shared that their ongoing project, Dogebox, is geared towards establishing approximately 10,000 extra nodes for Dogecoin to be operated within people’s homes and businesses by the year-end in 2025. This initiative focuses on enhancing Dogecoin’s decentralization efforts.

At the time of writing, Dogecoin was down 0.53% in the last 24 hours to $0.1388 and up 10% weekly.
