Dogecoin Founder Defends Elon Musk’s X On Key Algorithm Feature

As a long-term crypto investor and observer of the tech industry, I’ve seen my fair share of social media platforms come and go. With that being said, I must admit that I’m intrigued by Elon Musk’s involvement with X and the recent developments surrounding the app.

Billy Markus, the creator of Dogecoin, recently took to a social media platform touted as a “free speech” zone to speak up in defense of Elon Musk regarding findings of inconsistencies raised by users.

X Has a Bots Problem

Based on Billy Markus’ statement, there’s growing concern over account boosting and deboosting in certain circles. Contrary to popular belief, Musk, the proprietor of X accounts, did not deliberately engage in this practice, according to the Dogecoin founder. Instead, he attributed these fluctuations to the algorithm.

“When smaller accounts receive a boost, it automatically implies that larger accounts are being demoted. This is just simple mathematics and not a hidden agenda based on people’s political views or the latest baseless conspiracy theories.”

Noting the experiences of numerous X users since Musk’s acquisition, it’s important to mention that they have encountered various hurdles. A substantial number of these issues were linked to bots on the platform and some were even associated with crypto scams. In response, Musk declared a comprehensive purge intended to eradicate bothersome trolls from his social media app.

I analyzed the X app’s recent “purge” operation, designed to eliminate fraudulent accounts manipulated by bots and trolls, who were instrumental in spreading crypto scams. Following this, I identified a crucial step: introducing a small fee for new users. Musk emphasized that this was the “only way” to effectively thwart bot attacks.

As a crypto investor, I’ve noticed concerns being raised about the effectiveness of traditional bot-detection methods like CAPTCHA in today’s digital landscape. It seems that advanced AI tools and troll farms have found ways to bypass these systems. With recent discussions revolving around decreased user visibility, Elon Musk might be considering updates to Twitter’s bot algorithm to address these challenges.

Musk X App Welcomes Multiple Improvements

On the other hand, Musk has introduced quite a number of features to the X app.

More recently, Musk shared plans with journalist Alex Kantrowitz, founder of Big Technology, for incorporating artificial intelligence into Twitter’s Community Notes function. This update aims to boost the identification and labeling of deep fake content within the platform.

As a analyst, I’d like to add that in addition to the existing plans, we are intending to debut the X TV App. This application, based on the previews, could potentially put us in the running against Alphabet Inc.’s YouTube in the social media platform arena.
