Dogecoin Founder: Will Bitcoin Instantly Crash from HBO Satoshi Reveal?

As a seasoned researcher with years of experience in the fascinating world of cryptocurrencies, I can’t help but feel a sense of intrigue when it comes to the latest developments surrounding the identity of Satoshi Nakamoto. The recent HBO documentary, “Money Electric: The Bitcoin Mystery,” has certainly stirred up quite a storm, with Billy Markus, aka Shibetoshi Nakamoto, adding fuel to the fire with his speculations about the potential impact on Bitcoin’s price.

Billy Markus, co-creator of Dogecoin (a Bitcoin satire created alongside Jackson Palmer in 2013), shared his thoughts on the potential impact of the recently released “Money Electric: The Bitcoin Enigma” documentary by HBO.

He did not share who he believes to be Satoshi Nakamoto, the mysterious Bitcoin inventor. However, he wondered if the impact on the BTC price might be drastically negative rather than bullish.

“Will Bitcoin instantly crash from the reveal?”

Known as Shibetoshi Nakamotok on a particular social media platform (originally Twitter), the creator of Dogecoin frequently shares his opinions on diverse topics such as taxes, politics, and cryptocurrencies, while also posting memes. For a large number of individuals, he continues to be an impactful figure in the realm of digital currencies, with over 2.1 million followers on this platform.

This afternoon, he posted a tweet announcing that HBO plans to unveil its highly anticipated documentary soon, promising to expose the real identity of Satoshi Nakamoto, the inventor of Bitcoin. The documentary mentions several potential candidates, including Adam Back, who is known as a cypherpunk and CEO of Blockstream, and was referenced in the Bitcoin white paper; Len Sassaman; and former Bitcoin developer Peter Todd.

Markus posed a question to his audience: “Who among you believes they might be [the person]?” But what intrigued him even more was pondering whether revealing [the identity] would cause an immediate Bitcoin crash.

In an hour, there’s a possibility we might learn the true identity of Satoshi Nakamoto.

Who do you believe it could be?

HBO reveals “Satoshi” but the chosen candidate denies it

Upon viewing the mentioned documentary, it appears to unveil none other than Peter Todd as the alleged creator of Bitcoin, Satoshi Nakamoto. However, this assertion has been refuted by Mr. Todd himself. He stated that the director, who produced the film, is reaching for connections where there are none. He further added that the director is amplifying a few coincidences into something significant, which is reminiscent of conspiracy theories. Indeed, it seems ironic that such a tactic is being used to establish a connection in this case, as this method is often associated with speculative and unfounded claims.

Additionally, Todd stated that the film’s creators didn’t consult him prior to its release. However, the director continues to express optimism about his findings: “Peter was present during the day of the interview for the movie. He is aware of what was talked about. He had ample chances to clarify his stance.

Regarding Bitcoin’s price movement over the last day, there doesn’t seem to have been a crash. Instead, BTC has experienced a modest decrease of approximately 1.17%. This minor drop is unlikely to be connected to the release of the movie or Peter Todd being declared as Satoshi by his supporters.
